Training Camp Superstars

Postby Jjipp » Tue Jul 25, 2017 4:46 pm

I feel like each fall I try to scour the beat reports and Twitter pages of teams to try to identify players who are doing great things in training camp. Many of them don't necessarily pan out, but last year Tyreek Hill, Rob Kelley, and Jalen Richard all were very obviously doing great things in training camp, and those who were following had a leg up on scooping them up off of waivers.

I figured we could start a thread for people to post deep league waiver wire players who are lighting up training camp. This isn't a location to say that Terrelle Pryor seems to have great chemistry with Kirk Cousins, or to say that Dalvin Cook is looking explosive, because those guys are already 100% owned.

For example,
Matt Breida has received some glowing reports from OTAs and he has appeared more explosive than Joe Williams.

Hoping to be able to utilize the collective work from everyone this offseason instead of having to keep doing so much twitter diving!

Can't wait for camp to start and the reports to start rolling out!

Don't forget about Tyrell Williams last year too. I grabbed him after all the reports of how good he looked and everyone talking him up.

Here's one that I was surprised to see. It might just be them trying to motivate Doctson, but Ryan Grant has been getting talked up. He's worked ahead of Doctson through OTAs and Minicamp.

This one might be a little off topic but for those of you in leagues that score points for kick return yardage, it sounds like the vikings rookie WR Rodney Adams will take over CPatt's previous roll. The Vikings seem to always be near the top of the league in kick/punt return yardage each year so this could be a helpful add in those leagues with potential to turn into a low end WR down the road.

It will be interesting to see if Rodney Adams cuts into Laquon Treadwells touches also.

It's tough to keep up with because of the influx of information, but Chris Wesseling organized a list of all the NFL beatwriters on Twitter: https://twitter.com/ChrisWesseling/list ... at-writers. Great follow if you are looking for that constant stream of in-depth information from each training camp.

I'm really high on him. I made sure to snatch him up during my rookie draft.

Nice post, I know Twitter has seen better days but this feature is pretty cool.

Greg Ward Jr. He is a converted QB to WR. It is early but he has made some fabulous catches and apparently has caught a lot of attention. Crowded roster but another soft tissue injury from Alshon and a meltdown from Agholor and he could be on the roster.

Tanner Gentry from the Bears apparently has shown off great chemistry with Trubisky.

Those are two I've heard about thus far.

There's been some good news coming out of Cinci about Josh Malone. He's cheap too bc of the amount of talent they have. I think he's a nice stash for people with deep rosters.

Not a digging deep here, but I saw Vikings training camp on Friday. Dalvin Cook sticks out. Caught a LOT of passes. He's a natural receiver. Also ran with the first team regularly.

Not too surprising though with Murray on the PUP. Still good to hear!

Was at open practice for The Eagles today. Nelson Agholor was a standout and has been talked about all spring and summer as looking a lot more confident. Maybe time to buy low, especially if the trade rumors floating around Jordan Matthews develop into something serious.

Starting over McKinnon is worth noting too.

A little off topic, but I'm wondering what to do with McKinnon. I don't think he's a scrub... he could land in a good backup role next year and be worth something again. Don't know whether to drop him or not in the league where I own him.

Hold till after training camp if you can swing it. Without injury he won't be worth starting this year. But he will walk and hopefully end up as a 3rd down back somewhere. It's a crappy situation since I'm with you and think he has some talent.
