Drafting in Yahoo

Postby 84Hammer » Sat Jun 24, 2017 10:02 am

Starting a new league in Yahoo. We may look at MFL or another site later but most of our managers have other leagues in Yahoo and want to give it another year in hopes of dynasty functionality coming.
Can you run a draft with no timer in Yahoo? I thought about running it through a Google doc but am worried about getting deep and a manager selecting a player who has already been picked.
Suggestions? This the first online draft for a league that I commission.

RB - Gurley, Gordon, Hyde, Anderson, Drake, Abdullah, Prosise,
WR - Brown, M. Thomas, Cooks, Jeffery, Watkins, Coleman, Westbrook
TE - Engram, Olsen
2018 1.10, 2.06, 3.10

Team 2
12 team, 1 QB, Full PPR
QB - Carr, Wentz, Goff, Dobbs
RB - CMC, Kamara, D. Johnson, C. Thompson, Cohen, Burkhead, Procise,
WR - Evans, Juju, J. Gordon, Kupp, D. Parker, Agholor, M. Williams, Doctson, M. Goodwin
TE - Engram, Everett, ASJ
2018 2.01, 2.08, 4.09, 5.09

Have each owner as they make their selection add their own player. Cannot double draft a player if the player is already added. I assume this is a slow online draft rather than a live draft with a 60 sec to 120 sec timer.

Yeah. That's what I was hoping. We can make our picks inside Yahoo just like a draft with a timer?

Yes - just treat each pick like an add/drop transaction and have the owner add the player to their roster. It is clunky but it works.

Have you looked at Fleaflicker? I know you said your league likes Yahoo, but it really lacks any form of dynasty tools. Fleaflicker is simple to use, free, supports slow drafting, and stays up year round.

If you want to move to something more full featured later, like MFL (or yahoo if it adds features), it should be easy.

I actually joined a league on Fleaflicker to "test drive". I took over an orphan and we did the rookie draft like that. That's pretty much what I am wanting to do in Yahoo, if it has the ability. Was surprised Fleaflicker doesn't have an app. That was part of the reason I am trying it out before I try to convince the others to migrate to a system with no app. Our other dynasty league is 4 years old and the off season stuff is a little cumbersome in Yahoo but didn't think it outweighed the missing app component.

I've mostly left Fleaflicker for MFL, despite the fee and somewhat cumbersome interface, but I thought Fleaflicker's mobile site worked just fine. You tried that out?

If you're doing a startup you can draft on MFL for free and then just move the results to Yahoo! (or Fleaflicker or anywhere). But most of my Yahoo dynasty leagues just draft on the message board and add the players as they go, for a rookie draft. I personally think Yahoo is the best fantasy site, including MFL, but I don't think it does slow drafts.

Yeah I would just set up an MFL best ball league and draft from it. Then move the results to your yahoo league.

I love some of yahoo's new features, like their chat that allows image posting. I wish they would step up their dynasty game. In the meantime, I will use them for my redrafters.
