Ravens TE?

Postby Never Veto1 » Fri Jun 16, 2017 10:38 pm

Who's the TE to own in Baltimore? With Pitta gone that leaves a lot of receptions on the table. Is there anyone worth trading for or picking up?

I think Ben Watson has the biggest chance to be relevant in 2017. Maxx Williams is also a guy I wouldn't want to give up on. He hasn't really proven he's bad, he's just been hurt, although his knee injury has been said to be one of a kind.

But I am a fan of Crockett Gillmore, as I think he has the potential to be a low end starter.

At the end of the day, I think nobody is really going to be relevant this year and I would steer away. If I had to pick one, or was getting one for near free, I'm picking Williams just because he's still really young and is still unproven to go along with his draft pedigree.

I personally will pass on any potential upside 36-year old Ben Watson may bring to the table.

Maxx W or Gilmore are both worth waiver adds or even paying a late draft pick for (I paid a future 4th for Maxx W)

Good answer here coming from a Ravens fan. I think Maxx is the answer if you are looking for any kind of longevity plus upside.

I too and a fan of Crockett. Maybe it's because he has a bad bleep name, but he has also shown some lunchpail chops when healthy. I'd completely fade Watson unless I was a serious competitor in a deep league with lack of TE depth.

Crockett Gilmore - Blocking tight end. Could shift over to the receiving role, but I see it as unlikely given that he's by far their best option in the blocking role and isn't anything special as a receiver.
Ben Watson - Tore his achilles last summer. Chances of him being 100% as a 36 year old TE at this point, seem pretty low. He took a pay cut and is working largely off incentives now, but I don't see him getting a signficant snaps,
Maxx Williams - Was the main beneficiary when Pitta went down in 2015. If he can stay healthy, he's very likely to take over Pitta's role, though I would expect less output.
Nick Boyle - Seemingly the backup blocking tight end. Very unlikely to put up significant receiving stats.
Darren Waller - Seems like the lowest man on the totem pole for both roles. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets cut if Watson is healthy enough to play.
All I Der Is Win - 16 Team IDP League (Pass TD 6pts)

QB - Stafford, Stroud, Tune
RB - Swift, Hall, Penny, Bigsby, Ford
WR - Pittman, Olave, Di. Johnson, G. Wilson, J. Williams, Metchie, Robinson, M. Wilson
TE - Okonkwo, Schoonmaker
LB - Brooks, R. Smith, Phillips
DL - Crosby, Allen, Simmons
DB - D. James, Baker, Delpit
K - Just a stupid kicker

Seems like this is a perennial topic. Like others have stated I don't think the talent is on the roster necessary for fantasy relevant production. Maxx could improve but he's shown nothing to suggest he'll be ready to be a TE2 this year.

Probably no one, but if I had to pick, I'd take a chance on Williams.

He may not quite be "anything special," but 412 yards with 4 TD's on 33 receptions and 47 targets his sophomore season, isn't horrible. I'm buying him and Williams anywhere I can for a reasonable price. I'd love to see them in 2 TE sets with Maclin/Wallace/Perriman combo and Woodhead/Dixon out of the backfield.

Also, I hate extrapolating stats, but I'm bored at work so figured if Gillmore had kept that pace for the whole season (instead of being injured 6 1/2 games) he would have had roughly 824 yards and 8 TD's.

Likely a TEBC with little fantasy relevance in BAL, but if I had to pick, I'd add Watson for free off waivers.

So Waller's out with a year long suspension and there's talk of Baltimore bringing in Barnidge. I feel like Barnidge would be a solid fit for the Pitta role and would probably gut the value of the other competitors.

With all of the Kittle vibes out of SF, I wouldn't mind seeing McDonald added to the mix in Baltimore.

I agree that Barnidge makes alot of sense there and would be a decent option, I think, if they go that route. If they don't make a move, I like Watson for this season, he's old but he's had several really solid years in his career and he's free in pretty much all leagues.
