Superflex 6 point all td Startup

Postby johnsmith2951 » Mon Jun 12, 2017 2:17 am

About to embark on my first 14 team superflex start up and it's 6 points for all tds passing included. In this format is it almost mandatory to go qb qb due to how inflated qb numbers will be relative to the rest of the positions?

14 qbs went in the first 2 rounds of my current superflex. Big Ben went 2.08....not the norm but obviously it can happen, because it did.

In that sort of league format I would strongly consider moving up in the draft to have 2 top 10 picks with both of them going to QBs.

Rubber_duck I did precisely that. I ended up drawing pick 12 which also landed me pick 17 (2.03). I traded 2.03 and 3.12 for 1.02 and selected Andrew Luck. I then selected Jameis Winston at 12. I may have paid a lot in a 3rd rounder but I believe i now have 2 top five dynasty qbs.

I don't always advocate going QB/QB in a SF startup, but in a 14 team SF with 6pt passing TDs I think it's almost mandatory.

I did a 14tm SF startup earlier in the off-season and started with Luck/Ryan, and that was just a 4pt/passing TD league. I don't think you necessarily need to completely break the bank to move up for 2 top 6 QBs or anything like that, but I'd definitely want to start the draft with 2 entrenched starting caliber QBs. Also with 6pt passing TDs that means there's a larger gap between starting a QB and a RB/WR/TE in your SF slot, so I'd really want that 3rd starting QB as well if possible.

How did Winston fall to 12?? And if so, that's the only knock I'd have on this trade, who would have been there to pair him with at 17?? Carr lol!!

Looks like you did fine. It may be 2 or 3 years before all of the owners in this new league figure out the true value of the QBs, but you shouldn't have to worry about that for a very long time.

Maybe go zero-RB strategy from here on out. If you can lock down a solid group of WRs in the next year or two, then the RBs shouldn't be too hard to fill in ... combination of older players and sleepers.

Smart move trading up for Luck. I think the important thing to remember is relative values for QB's and that the rushing TD's are no longer an advantage with all TD's being 6 points. Taking pure passers is probably a safer strategy and avoiding the rushing guys that can be difference makers in 4pt PaTD leagues.
Brees and Rivers would be 2 guys I value later in the draft as well as Dalton if any are around in the 4th for you

Good stuff getting Jameis and Luck. 6 pt passing tds is huge in a superflex, so if there is still a good qb at your next pick it might not be a bad idea to grab him for trade bait. Otherwise i would try to build a strong wr core and then piece together a rb stable. Good start though!

The first round was very weird after the top 2 picks of Rodgers and Luck, only carr and Brady... haha went before pick 12. Was not expecting that to be the case but after Jameis 10 of the next 13 picks were qbs. So I was very happy to beat that run.

I was going to say no. unless you get a young one, but that trade you made, and getting Jameis is amazing. if you missed out on elite/ young qb's, there is no reason to force guys like ben/eli/brees etc who only can help for another year or 2. but, without them, youd assume failure and early draft picks early so I wouldn't touch guys like Julio/ajg/ anyone over 24 either.

great move

So you and others passed on Russell Wilson for Jamies?
I would also easily take Cam over any of the 3 (Carr/Brady/Jamies) but he is much more polarizing so I get Cam not going earlier
