Ahh man, I'm kind of disappointed. The end of the story is always anti-climactic with Michael, but we didn't even get the training camp hype portion of the CMike saga.

Welp...guess he wasn't even worth an end of roster stash. Cards D is probably better. At least they won't go on IR.

Arent teams now allowed to have 2 players from IR return? Would be nice to know what the injury is and if it warrants such a possibility.

Are we really doing that? It's Christine Michael. The only value he might have had was for people hoping to flip him after a good preseason, or vultering a pair of week 2 TDs or something. He presents almost no return potential at this point.

Sadly agreed. I'd had hope he'd net me some sort of draft pick, but now the silver lining is that it will be easier to make cuts for my rookie draft. I am curious what the injury was though? I imagine we'll hear something eventually.

Only players who are placed on IR after September can return.... they also must receive the designation "to return".

So, the new "2 players" rule does not help CMike

Correct me if I'm wrong here as the finer points of NFL IR policy aren't exactly a main interest of mine... but the Colts could have cut CMike here, correct? They are putting him on IR and as a result have to pay him and want to retain his rights.

Right before this it came out "Chuck Pagano said at minicamp the Colts "loved" Christine Michael's "explosiveness" before they signed him."

I've always been kind of a CMike fanboy, granted I don't get to be in a meeting room and hear why he is in idiot when it comes to football, but I've always liked what I've seen when he is out there with the ball in his hands. If your expectations are set at the dead bottom, this still remains kind of interesting to me (granted more of a general interest than any particular fantasy payout at this point haha).

My guess is that the issue most teams have with Michael is his propensity to try to break runs outside. He did the same thing in both Green Bay and Seattle and while it helps pad his YPC, it gets away from what the team wants to do. He runs like a 3rd down back, but doesn't pass block or catch passes. I don't think Indy will be any different even if he comes back next year given their penchant for relying on high volume thumpers for early down carries.

I simply wanted to know if there was a chance Michael would return this season or not. Knowing that feasibility and the type of injury is important for me because I play in a large variety of leagues. Players who might be useless in 12 team 22 man roster leagues have value in 16 team 30 man roster leagues - as I am sure you are aware of.

If there is no chance of return, then yeah he's going to go to waivers, but if there is a chance of return and I have him on a league with a deep enough roster he'll stick around.

We all love his explosiveness. I would have been more intrigued if they mentioned he had turned around one of his weaknesses and they really liked how he was performing in that area. It's like if JaMarcus Russell came back and his coach raved about his big arm. OK, we've always known he has a big arm, that's never been his problem.

We've always known CMike has great explosiveness, that's never been his problem.

I guess it's all moot now either way.

I'm still waiting to hear what type of injury it is. Dunno why they are being so quiet about it.

He hadn't really had but a couple weeks without pads with the team. How much could he visibly turn around in that time? Also, at this point it's kind of you can't "turn around" being dumb, and that seems to be his issue. RB is one of the most instinctive and least cerebral positions on the field and he can't grasp it enough to stick on a roster behind guys who are clearly less physically gifted.

My guess is that he will be released with an injury settlement and free to sign with another team which he inevitably will when a team has a RB go down in camp..

...and like the energizer bunny he will keep going...and going...and the hype will never be over
