What's your QB strategy in a superflex?
What's your QB strategy in a superflex?
What strategy do you employ for your superflex leagues? Studs early over WR/RB? Late QB? Always have three solid starters?
I like to take two studs early in a startup and then a third pretty soon after that so that I have three solid starters. What about you guys?

QBs early and often. Young top-10 QBs are irreplaceable, and I aim to have three. If/when a QB who should be gone falls, I'll keep taking him -- and more than four. That will almost assuredly pay off later.

Re: What's your QB strategy in a superflex?
Completely agree. The biggest mistake you can make in a superflex is wait on QBs. You will be a bottom feeder for years if you think you can get "middling" options.moishetreats wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2017 6:02 am QBs early and often. Re: What's your QB strategy in a superflex?
Usually the first three rounds are QBs for me. not only are you making your team that much stronger and can play matchups, but you're making your opponents weaker.
Re: What's your QB strategy in a superflex?
Depends on where I draft really. If its a top 3 pick I go with Evans, Odell, and Zeke and draft a QB with my 2nd and 3rd picks. If I am at the end of the 1st round I am most likely going to grab two stud QBs over WRs and RBs. I am almost always going to pick QBs with 2 of my first 3 or 4 picks. Typically I do not rush to grab the 3rd QB as trade bait or a fill in for bye weeks. You always want to walk away with 3 starting QBs but I try to grab two studs and an upside QB2 as my 3rd guy.
Re: What's your QB strategy in a superflex?
Definitely go QB early and often. Owners who don't have solid QB options end up drafting so many QBs over the years to find somebody.
I'm wondering how people handle a superflex auction startup. I'm going to assume people will not nominate QBs early with how the system lists players. Do you try to save your money for the QBs and only grab one or two skill positions and let everyone else use up their money and then pounce on QBs hopefully for cheap later?

Re: What's your QB strategy in a superflex?
My advice for the auction is just make your tiers of players and go with whoever goes the cheapest. Assign some value to those tiers and if one of them is going lower just pounce on him whenever it's available. I saw in one league last year where luck went for 2/3 of winstons price bc luck was like he 3rd qb off the board and Winston was one of the last.Kramer wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2017 8:56 am Definitely go QB early and often. So once you have your QBs are they basically untradeable? What value you are you having to get in return to give up your third QB?

Re: What's your QB strategy in a superflex?
1) Yes.
2) The world. Why? Because if you have two elite/stud QBs, and one goes down, then you can't replace him on the waiver wire; he needs to be on your roster. Three young elite QBs puts me light-years ahead of everyone else -- for a decade. Why would I ever want to get rid of that barring an out-of-this-world offer?

Re: What's your QB strategy in a superflex?
Put it this way, our league started out never playing dynasty before and we started a 2QB league in 2014...I drafted Rivers (who has been very solid ever since) and Kaepernick ( ) as my initial two.
I picked up Kyle Orton in Buffalo who was serviceable that year and Ryan Mallett (who appeared to have walked into Houston's job and then got hurt).
Fast forward, Orton retires, Mallett was terrible and late to his plane, Kaepernick fell off severely in 2015 and I was completely screwed at QB.
Been scrambling ever since with drafting rookies/picking up fliers. In these leagues, you really need to invest your early or middle round picks in top 12-15 QBs.....and honestly, make sure you have 3. In my Superflex league (learning from my mistakes): I drafted Mariota (early), Stafford (middle) and Flacco (real late) and picked up Kessler as the season progressed. I may take another QB in our upcoming draft to boot.

Re: What's your QB strategy in a superflex?
You can never have too many.
I know they're not flashy names, but this is a brand new 16 team 2 QB league so I got Dak, Goff, Glennon and Trubisky who will probably all give me starts this year. Then I went with two developmental guys in Beathard and Cardale. Foles is a solid backup and Mannion is just Goff insurance.
I'm always in the market for QBs. I'd love to get Paxton Lynch but the owner only has 3 QBs and his QB3 is someone irrelevant.

This. In a superflex league I'm in, an owner recent declined 3 2018 1sts for Mariota, and another owner sold Garoppolo for a 2018 1st + 2 2018 2nds. Draft QBs early and often in a superflex startup for value, even if your roster is set at QB.moishetreats wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2017 6:02 am QBs early and often. Re: What's your QB strategy in a superflex?
Generally agree with QB early and often, but depends on how many flex positions you have as well. I'm in a startup where we start 3WRs and 4 flex spots (including SF), so depth is as important as QB production. Granted you get to "set it and forget it" at QB for a few years if you pick up studs, but if you have a great stable of WRs, you can get by with average QB production. I've seen leagues with elite options at QB win, as well as poor QB with solid depth. Just depends on how you want to build, imo.
Re: What's your QB strategy in a superflex?
Do you have 2 starting QB's aside from Mariota? I would be very tempted to take that for Mariota at this point knowing the QB's and RB's in next years draft. I mean random 1sts maybe not but educated guesses on where they might fall?WhatWouldDitkaDo wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2017 5:21 pmThis. Full disclosure I think Mariota is a bit overvalued as a young QB because has yet to finish a season healthy and they are a run first team with a good offensive line. He is a good player and an even better human being so I understand the love
