robert davis the long term own in dc?

Postby sloth8u » Thu May 25, 2017 6:09 am

the dude lit up the combine and has landed in a pretty nice spot for an opportunity imo. i own crowder, pryor, doctson, and davis in various leagues. i like all of them, but the reality here is that pryor is on 1, crowder's contract will be up...and doctson is just a prospect himself. i know pedigree carries weight, but would think that with a new oc....talent will eventually rise to the top.

6'3" 220 lbs with the highest SPARQ score in this WR class was enough for me to take notice and add him off waivers for the ol' taxi squad. Broke out at a young age but my understanding is he played in a terrible offense so his numbers were never impressive.

After reading the DLF article on him as the potential steal of this draft class I picked him up late in a start up. His metrics are ridiculous for his size so he's worth a stash if you have the room.

He's a fun flier but odds of him being fantasy relevant are pretty low. He's this year's Ricardo Louis but broke out earlier in his college career because he played on Georgia State and not Auburn.

Just a name to monitor.

Could just end up this year's Mike Thomas (the "bad" one).

In fairness Robert Davis is a bit bigger and more athletic than "Good" Michael Thomas.

I won't argue with the metrics, but Thomas and Jones are now both reportedly 6'3"/220 lbs.

That said, Davis is someone I'm keeping an eye on in July/August to see if he's generating any buzz. He probably wouldn't be drafted in my format due to short benches and no taxi-squad. But I wouldn't hesitate to put him on the watch list if he's making a little noise in camp and the preseason.

WR: J. Chase, C. Godwin, D. Johnson, J. Reed, C. Tillman
TE: TJ Hockenson, D. Njoku, B. Jordan

14 Team, .5 PPR, 18 Man Roster, Rush/Rec TD = 6, Pass TD = 4, FG = 3, Start: QB, 2RB, 2WR, TE, Flex, K, D

His athletic profile does look very impressive. I think we just fall for these types too easily and then stubbornly hold on to them for too long and miss out on the opportunity to pick up a more useful piece because we believe too often that these guys will all become stars if only they get that 1 chance but the coach won't give them that chance or their QB isn't good enough or whatever it is...

But he's definitely a watch list guy for me because the depth chart can change quickly in DC and he does have talent...
