Beckham sitting out OTA's

Postby knuckles50 » Wed May 24, 2017 1:53 pm

As a Giants fan it's pretty frustrating to hear that Manning and all receivers have reported except for Beckham. It is "voluntary", but one more sign of his selfish attitude.

Yea it is, it's starting to remind me of Shockey. Great production but his antics will wear thin if he can't bring it together mentally. Instead of getting better chemistry with Eli he's out catching passes from Johnny Burnout. SMH :wall:

Every team has at least 1 guy who doesn't show up to voluntary workouts. Sounds like he was busy negotiating the biggest deal with Nike for a football player. Some work out with their own personal trainer. Some are using the only leverage they have to try and renegotiate or extend their contract. Nothing to see here.

The alternative is he shows up but then sits out with an injury or is out of shape. Not any better.

I would consider OTA's which is essentially a light practice session, a little more important than voluntary workouts. If this was Julio or AJ, guys that are proven leaders in the locker room i wouldn't make much of it. But Beckham hasn't proved he can be a leader and this attitude is exactly why. He cant negotiate his Nike deal from NY? What was Johnny his fill in agent? lol. Not buying it, no reason he shouldn't be practicing with his team, especially how the season ended and how bad he was.

For the love of God, it's VOLUNTARY.

You'd be more pissed if he reported to these voluntary workouts and he tore his acl. Then you'd complain about how it's stupid these players are "required" to go to voluntary workouts/practices blah blah blah blah

Take advice from Aaron Rodgers, RELAX

As AI would say...
"Man, we talkin' about practice, man. Not a game. Not a game. We talkin' about practice, man. We talkin' about practice."
...or close enough

He was reported to be due to arrive at OTA's today, so might be stretch to call it sitting them out.

he's not a leader of the football team, just be happy when he's there on game day.. he's probably more of a distraction than help

I cant believe this story has made it here. This is by far the most overblown story of the offseason. Julio is out here posting videos of himself getting tattoos, Von Miller is travelling, and Olivier Vernon also shown up to Giants OTAs. People just want this kid to become like Manziel. I'm not sure if its because of his success, his fame, a combination of the two, but he cant do anything without criticism. He doesn't have to be a leader to be great. He has to show up on the field to be great, which hes done for 3 seasons now. This is a complete non-issue in my opinion, and totally irrelevant for fantasy - unless of course the odell owner in your league now wants to sell because he missed OTAs.
