I had an idea for an ambitious league. What do you think?
I had an idea for a new league this morning, and I wanted to see if there would be any interest. It would structured like March Madness with four 16-team leagues with separate player pools. The first ten weeks would be the regular season where you get seeded in your league 1-16. Then weeks 11-16 would be a single elimination tourney like March Madness with the winner of each 16-team league meeting in the Final Four in week 15. I was thinking about doing a $20 buyin, and having payouts for high scoring team in each league during seeding, each playoff win, regional champions, overall champion, 2nd, and 3rd overall. Obviously it'd be ambitious to recruit and keep 64 dedicated owners, but I think it could be really cool. What do you guys think. Would there be any interest?

It's an interesting idea and I am intrigued. That being said--have you floated this idea before? I feel like I have seen this idea somewhere else--??
Re: I had an idea for an ambitious league. What do you think?
I haven't. Maybe someone else has? I've never heard of anything like it before.

Except it'd be dynasty, and you don't have to be an industry insider or lottery winner to be in it.

Re: I had an idea for an ambitious league. What do you think?
I find it to be interesting. I feel like a league of that size & low buy-in... people would be interested because of the pay-out alone.
Conducting a draft & commish duties would be a headache. Lol

Re: I had an idea for an ambitious league. What do you think?
Teams would be limited to trading within their 16 team divisions?
Re: I had an idea for an ambitious league. What do you think?
I was thinking having four commishes or one over each league. That would spread out the responsibilities a little.

Re: I had an idea for an ambitious league. What do you think?
I think you should be able to trade with anyone, but you can't have two or more copies of the same player on one team. They would be separate for their standings, who they play for seeding, and the start up and rookie drafts.

Re: I had an idea for an ambitious league. What do you think?
Sounds intriguing. If you end up formalizing the idea and putting together rules & such you can likely count on me to join, and I'll be sure to spread the word through my leagues.
Please speak to clarion contrarion before considering the use of vetos..
Re: I had an idea for an ambitious league. What do you think?
I had a similar idea years ago. 96 college-themed teams, play for 10 weeks, then seeded 1-64 and ranked/played the way the NCAA does it, 4 playoff brackets with 16 teams each ranked 1-16. For each seed ranking you are ahead of your opponent, you get those as bonus points. So a #1 seed gets 15 extra points over a #16 seed for a week 1 matchup. After all, there should be a bonus for higher-ranked teams, and a disadvantage for lower-ranked ones.
$25 entry. Payout is simple: Win a game, make some cash. 96 * $25 = $2,400 in prizes.
Win Round 1: 32 Advance
Lose Round 2 (16 teams): Win your entry fee back: 16 * 25 = $400 ($2,000 left)
Lose Round 3 (8 teams): Win Double the entry fee: 8 * 50 = $400 ($1,600 left)
Lose Round 3 (4 teams): Win Quadruple the entry fee: 4 * 100 = $400 ($1,200 left)
Lose Semi Finals (2 teams): Win $200 each: 2 * 200 = $400 ($800 left)
Runner-up: $300
Winner: $500
Straight from rules I wrote several years ago. Full dynasty, all offense, no taxi., 6 copies of every player......... Instead I made a 96 team contract league. I thought it would be less work... LLLLOOOLLLLLLL wrong.

Re: I had an idea for an ambitious league. What do you think?
Very interesting. I like the idea of every team making the playoffs and having a chance to win the whole thing if they can go on a run, but I like what you did where the difference in seed are bonus points.MEuRaH wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2017 11:36 am I had a similar idea years ago. 96 college-themed teams, play for 10 weeks, then seeded 1-64 and ranked/played the way the NCAA does it, 4 playoff brackets with 16 teams each ranked 1-16. Re: I had an idea for an ambitious league. What do you think?
Scott fish does something similar.
I would play. However I would want the buy in to be more. Basically your dealing with 4 copies of each player and it makes for a unique strategy in the startup.
If it's $50 I'm in. Want to be worth the startup prep time.

I was envisioning four separate startups, one for each 16-team league. Is that what you were thinking as well?schiewerma21 wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2017 12:14 pm Scott fish does something similar.
