Rookie AUCTION Results (just completed)

Hey, Folks,

For a Supeflex, $300 cap, 22 roster with 4 player Taxi Squad league (Team 2 in sig.), we just completed our Rookie AUCTION. I don't see too many of those results posted here, so I figured that I'd share mine.

I'm happy to share more about how it went, if anyone's interested. If not, then just enjoy the read! And I would LOVE to hear anyone's thoughts on the results!

This is very interesting. In my superflex, and all of the superflex drafts I have seen posted here, the QB's went after the top 6, and in most cases more near the end of the first beginning of the second. In your auction, the top 3 would be picks 1.01-1.03, and the 4th much higher up than normal.

It is a 12 team super flex, so they are typically starting 24 QBs each week ... as you saw. But the sig also says that it is best ball, so QBs get yet another bump in value.

Joe Williams going for as much or more than John Ross, Evan Engram, D'Onta Foreman, Chris Godwin, Samaje Perine...so sad.

QBs rule this league: no doubt about it. In our six-year history, only one team has made the championship game without at least two legit QBs. Just how it goes.

That being said, I think that QBs go for too much here. Rodgers, Newton, Rivers, Big Ben -- they're all available in the Free Agent Auction in August, and I'll gladly pay the $50-$70 that one will cost rather than the $35/$42 that they cost here. The reason that they go for so much, though, is in the event that you land a Winston ($35) or Mariota ($32): those guys at those prices are GOLD. Heck, only five position players went for more than Kizer!

But, that's the market in this league, and it has been consistent. I wouldn't be shocked if they went for more next year given the names coming out.

Interestingly, rookies are devalued, I think, here. Guys like Riddick or Ingram or Garcon will go for $15-$22 dollars, making them top-half-of-the-first-round picks. That's due, I believe, to the nature of expiring contracts: there will always be at least one or two studs available and a couple of proven contributors available at every position every year. While some would rather have, say, Davis at $23 than free agent Green at, say, $42-$45, that's not a slam-dunk. Or would you rather have, say, McCaffery at $23 for a longer contract or Riddick at, say, $18 for a shorter contract when you know that some big name free agents will be available the following year?

It's a fascinating league... , though I do think that, QB value aside, you could order the players here by salary and get a pretty comparable order to ADP ranking.
