Logan Thomas...TE...Anything to see here?

Postby slaughterrt » Sun May 21, 2017 3:40 pm

Out of pure curiosity...checking out any TE prospects on waivers...I come across Logan Thomas. The same Logan Thomas drafted as a QB out of Virginia Tech in 2014. Still only 24, but fresh off a conversion to TE...is there anything to see here? Haven't done a ton of research on whether he has any experience at TE at any level...but seems loke Buffalo had enough interest to sign him off Detroit PS.

Shot in the dark or a roster clogger? 16 team league with 40 man rosters. Not a TE premium but I could use someone behind Coby Fleener and Xavier Grimble.

Depends on who you need to waive. Buffalo spent too much on Clay that it looks like they're committed to trying to make it work though. People are hoping for Pryor 2.0 but it's a tough transition. I'd add but won't stubbornly hold him ahead of someone who could be useful.

You have deep rosters but still think it would be a roster clogger. Normally TE's take 2-3 years to adjust to NFL. Now add in converting to TE can't see be usefull for like 3+ years

It takes most talented rookie TEs out of college a few years to develop in the NFL. Not sure how well a 24 year old who converted from QB will do.

Well, here we are a few years later and he's getting buzz in camp on a team devoid of TE talent (and pass catchers in general).

Worth a cheap stash for sure.

Thaddeus Moss was released. Logan Thomas has gotten some camp hype and his athletic profile is everything you'd want.

If he succeeds at TE it should at least give hope to Josh Allen owners.

I'm not rostering him anymore, he has had plenty of opportunity and hasn't produced...

He's only played the position for three years though, right? We don't expect the top rookie TE prospects to produce much the first couple of years and that's after they've played the position throughout college.

For a guy who is free, worth holding in deeper leagues for a month to see how he's used in Washington to start of the year.

Well, now that I have scooped him up everywhere I can, it's time to open up. Some touting him as this years Waller. While I don't think a Waller happens every year, at least to that level, I can see him being a FF relevant player. Not hard to see a world where he is the 2nd most targeted player behind Terry, and has 5 plus TD's, considering how often he's scoring and being targeted in camp.

Interesting read.

It's hard to say. There's opportunity in Washington's offense, but nobody knows how good Haskins is. If he's good, then all of a sudden players like Sims and Thomas are on the radar this season.

McLaurin I think is on the radar regardless.

Dwayne Haskins would have to have a very good year to make him relevant

Yeah, those Browns QBs were studs the year Barnidge went over 1000.

Yea nowadays any halfway mediocre qb can push 4000 yards which is easily enough to sustain a TE
