Based on pure talent Davante Mays is the best RB drafted by GB. 5'11" 230lbs & ran a 4.5 forty. Really think he would've been a 3rd-4th round pick if not for injuries this season.

But you should watch his tape to see if it does or doesn't. The dude has talent. I agree that pure measureables would be a more proper term in this case than talent. About those measureables, he has instant goalline appeal as he was a former powerlifter, benches 425 pounds, says he squatted 530 in HS. 40.5 inch vert at 230 pounds. He also is not light with his weight, a lot of time you see fast big strong guys and they dance too much, he runs people over. He plays like Perine. Overlooked at every stage, had to go to JuCo, then only got one D1 offer, then makes pros despite only like 37 carries his last year.

Oh and the draft expert on the telemivision said exactly that about the 3rd round when the pick was made. That he is a very powerful back, and is in the mold of D'Onta Foreman and probably would have been a 3rd or 4th rounder if he wasn't hurt his last year. Don't count him out, you should actually watch his tape. I don't see him winning the role but would not be shocked at all to see him in goal line or short yardage situations. Could be a TD vulture
Remember where you are - this is Thunderdome.

Interesting that people are assuming Jamaal Williams will be the more effective interior runner - more so than Ty Montgomery.

Jamaal Williams
6'0" 212 lbs (per playerprofiler.com - GB officially list him at 213)
BMI 28.7
Burst 112.5 (18th)

Ty Montgomery
6'0" 216 lbs
BMI 29.3
Burst 129.4 (91st)

Seems like Montgomery is bigger and more solid and has a better burst score - equating to lower body explosiveness, correct? And though bench press reps don't equate to interior effectiveness, Ty Montgomery had 16 and J. Williams had 18.

Just an awful situation and I'm still stunned Packers didn't clear the RB situation. Montgomery can't he the lead guy.

Someone will come out of here as the go to guy. But which lottery ticket is the one to buy remains to be seen.

I agree with this, for the most part. Jamaal will probably see goal line work and such. Jones is small and I can't see him beating out Montgomery for passing downs. Also, you have to hope these rookies somehow improve in their pass protection quickly. No way they risk Rodgers....

I think everyone is forgetting that Montgomery didn't spend his off season in 2016 preparing for a rb role... he kind of just fell into it due to injuries during the season. I'm excited to see what he can do preparing for the role this off season. I'm encouraged by what I saw last season, and I think the Packers are, too.

So, to answer the main question... I think it's pretty slim another rb not named Ty or Williams becomes relevant this year. Just my opinion, though, I could be biased since I own Montgomery.... I'm willing to admit that.
