They basically had identical rookie seasons. KA had 71/1046/8 and KB had 73/1008/9. Last year KB had 63/941/7 in a full season. Keenan's second year was a disappointment after only putting up 77/783/4, but almost matched that the next year with 67/725/4 in only 7.5 games. That would have put him on pace for 134/1450/8. I highly doubt KB ever gets close to that. Keenan might not ever get that again himself, but I'd bet on him getting closer to that than KB. Oh, and Keenan is a year younger even though he's been in the league longer. The knock on Keenan has been his injuries, but KB missed a whole season himself.
Kelvin Benjamin
Re: Kelvin Benjamin
Re: Kelvin Benjamin
Not to turn this into a Keenan debate but neither player is getting the Keenan average from 2015. Keenan will probably catch more passes. But KB will have more yardage and more TDs. Their ADP is miles apart for the same production. It makes no sense to me why KB is hated so much.Goddard wrote: ↑Tue May 09, 2017 9:43 amThey basically had identical rookie seasons. I don't hate him, I just don't see him producing a ton, if anything what you said above just shows that Keenan Allen is overrated (which he is)skip wrote: ↑Tue May 09, 2017 10:31 amNot to turn this into a Keenan debate but neither player is getting the Keenan average from 2015. Last year Benjamin averaged 7.4 targets per game and caught 53% of his targets, that means he's catching 4 balls per game, not to mention that NC went out and spent a 1st AND 2nd round pick on RBs who can both catch the ball very well, as opposed to the nobody in the backfield last year that was doing that, and then you add in the fact that he's out of shape (yea the 280 was an overstatement but it's still indicative of an issue)
That right there ^^^ is not a recipe for success

i'm quite happy to say i hate him.
he has already had his best season.
he has already had his second best season.
unfortunately for me, he missed his second season so it prevents me from saying his first two seasons were in order his best two seasons.

Re: Kelvin Benjamin
Number of targets and percentage don't concern me at this point. Going back to Keenan, his targets took a major jump in one season... Due to injuries to other players... But still... Targets are not necessarily predictable. And his catch rate at 53% is the same as Mike Evans (54% for his career).StableOfRBs wrote: ↑Tue May 09, 2017 1:33 pm Last year Benjamin averaged 7.4 targets per game and caught 53% of his targets
KB isn't elite, I just don't think he gets a fair shake relative to his peers.

Re: Kelvin Benjamin
I don't hate KB, but I think a lot of his value is that he's really been the only show in town in Carolina for targets aside from Olsen. Ginn was always just a home run hitter, and that's kind of it.
I think he has value in real life to Carolina, but I do think adding another WR early will be on their to-do list sooner than later, which will lower KB's fantasy value.

For certain players targets are very important and Benjamin just isn't efficient enough to produce without seeing a good chunk of looksskip wrote: ↑Tue May 09, 2017 5:45 pmNumber of targets and percentage don't concern me at this point. let those who are low on him be low. Makes him the cheapest top 20 WR in the league right now

Re: Kelvin Benjamin
that's if you think he's a top 20 WR, he was the #26 WR in my .5ppr league last year and that was with a pretty low year all around for receivers, he finished ahead of guys like AJ Green, Dez, DHop, and Alshon, all who are expected to outperform him this yearJohnny Canuck wrote: ↑Tue May 09, 2017 7:30 pm let those who are low on him be low. his value you, as low as it was, was still comparatively artificially inflated, he's much closer to the WR30 than the 20, even if he has a small bounce back (which I really don't see happening)

I have him so I kept a close eye. I don't understand why adding weapons is a negative. Benjamin played with a crowd around him all last season because defenses did not have to worry about any body else. Making defenses play more honest can only be a plus.
I am convinced he was injured last year and I don't mean the off year some athletes seem to have after an ACL injury. His shoulder was injured. He ran off the field several times last year after making a catch.
He is still a high floor with potential for big upside wide receiver.

Re: Kelvin Benjamin
I agree that he has a high floor, I don't think it's much lower than it was last year, but he's also got a very low ceiling, can't see him having more than like 1150 and 8 and for a number 1 WR on a team that's really not good (for comparison Pryor was 1000 and 4 last year and he's a converted qb who had 4 different people throwing to him)The.Big.Spank wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2017 5:34 am I have him so I kept a close eye. Re: Kelvin Benjamin
I think he's a good WR2/3 to have in your starting lineup from week to week. I don't see him regressing any bit this yet so you can expect similar results to last year. I sold Dez and the 2.08 pick for KB and the 1.04 pick a few months ago. I'm in need of some RB upgrades so I figured I should get either Fournette/McCaffrey/Mixon with the 1.04 and I took an obvious bump down from Dez to KB.
Re: Kelvin Benjamin
I own him and will take the risk and hold on to see what happens. I don't think he's horrible but I don't expect him to ever be one of the top WR in the league.

I like KB more as my WR3, than as my WR2. Inconsistency is an issue with him. He can look absolutely dominating at times, and other games completely disappears.
