Agree completely. Woodhead might be annoying with some passing work, but there's no evidence to suggest he will "steal all the goal line carries", or that Gordon will no longer be a 3-Down back.

woodhead is a UFA and with a new staff in san diego it could be brandon oliver or someone else however gordon has proven to be far more than his rookie year critics forecast for the wisky workhorse.

I've never liked Woodhead. Couple in his age and injury, I see a re-signing with San Diego only as a positive for Gordon as Woody would see fewer touches at this point than he has in the past.

I agree with cc it will likely be Oliver and others in SD with Gordon and not likely re-signing Woodhead.
Also I think Lynn is the type of coach that would prefer keeping Gordon in 3 downs as much as possible for continuity rather than role playing guys unless he doesn't feel Gordon is a 3 down guy. Everything we have heard at this point suggests he is a fan of Gordon

Melvin Gordon value post NFL Draft

Postby Shcritters » Sat Apr 29, 2017 2:15 pm

So we're in round 6 and the Chargers have upgraded at WR, drafted 3 OL (2 who will surely push for starting roles), and haven't picked up a RB. They've gotta be in the market for a vereran RB post the draft, right? If they don't MG has to be a top 5 RB this year on volume alone...

I'd say Melvin Gordon is up there with Jameis Winston as the biggest winners of the draft.

Yeah, I think Gordon and Rivers are both big winners after this draft. I wish that I had more shares of Gordon at this point.

Scooped him for the 1.09 for Team 2 a couple of days before final cuts a week ago. Very happy with that move then, even more so now.

I love it. Those guards they drafted are beasts, gonna be nice to see them grow together.

They definitely need a COP type RB though

If he already got almost all of the carries last year, how many more can he get? Isn't he pretty much at his ceiling?

In terms of carries, probably. But with the improvement of the Oline and passing game, it should help boost his ypc.

A lot of haters and doubters over the past 2 seasons that typically bring up low ypc. First it was knocking his low TD's, and low ypc, then it was too many td's and an unsustainable work load.

I guess the Chargers liked what he showed them. When I watched him run, I was impressed, as I also saw a weak O-line in need of improvement. Looks like that is exactly what the LAC saw. I think his work load should stay about the same but I fully expect a slight increase in his ypc and reception total.

mid to high level rb1 in dynasty.

With Charles signing his value keeps going up. Who's still a FA that could really take away value?

Blount is the only guy I can think of off the top of my head, would be a lot of GL competition but other than that I don't think he'd detract too much from MG3 between the 20s
