Cmike / ty Montgomery hype

With greenbay not selecting an rb first 3 rounds , are these guys gonna get more of a shot than most originally thought ?

You would have to think this which is crazy is cmike finally going to have a team that will give him a legit chance.. I guess we will see after day 3. I could always see an ingram trade. If I were GB I would dangle a 4th or 5th to NO for Ingram seems like they gave up on the guy.

Let's see how today shakes out. Still some really solid prospects on the board, and RB is one of the positions where it's definitely not unheard of for 4th-5th round guys to have success in the right situation. Plus there are still a number of veteran RBs that are either unsigned or potential trade candidates for their current team. So far so good, let's not get ahead of ourselves though.

This makes too much sense. Ingram in GB would be stellar.

Still too early to say. Drafting Perine would basically make C-Mike worthless. I think getting an early down thumper is more likely than a satellite back to replace Montgomery.

Any chance they bring Blount in? He'd be the good early/goal line guy with TY being 3rd down/change of pace

Hadn't thought about this but it definitely seems possible. I think they believe in Montgomery as a 3rd down back but C-Mike hasn't given them any reason to believe he's their early down thumper. Blount makes sense here

Watching Ty Montgomery play he looks like the perfect fit for GB's RB1. He runs well out of the shotgun and pistol, he can catch, he isn't all that bad between the tackles, he's very patient and he's a hard runner. I don't see why people are so quick to discount what he's done and with a full off season as a running back he could be even better.

Green Bay will add an inexpensive back to the mix. As mentioned above, Perine is an option. McNichols is a 3 down type that fits. Then there are guys like Charles and Blount as FA options and Hill and Ingram as trade targets or release candidates. I wouldn't get too comfortable with Montgomery nor pay a premium just yet.

Nothing surprising here for the Packers. The odds of them drafting an RB in the first three rounds was always incredibly low.

Of the FAs, Blount is not a realistic option. They value versatility in their players, and Blount doesn't have that. Lacy, despite his size, could catch the ball well enough for it to be a threat. That is also why Peterson was never a realistic possibility for GB.

I see them drafting an RB in round 4 or 5, but Thompson has constantly referred to there being multiple avenues to acquire another running back. Bottom line: Montgomery is going to get playing time and touches; the Packers love what he brings to the table. But, they'll also add someone who can be a 1a to Montgomery or a 1b to Montgomery.

Michael is nothing more than depth.

Chris Johnson would make a fair amount of sense to me in Green Bay. He could fill either role and, until last year, was pretty durable. If they want someone like Blount for goal line, they might as well just continue to use Ripkowski.

To me, all this means is that GB is going to be passing a billion times again. I don't trust Montgomery or Micheal as lead backs in standard leagues. But in PPR, I think Montgomery's floor as an RB2 became higher.

Well someone has to keep the CMike hope train rolling! It's been going for four years now; we can't have him ending up on waiver wires people.

Barring a trade of some kind, I think that this cements Montgomery as the majority shareholder and pass catching option of a committee, and probable PPR RB2. I don't think it's outside of the realm of possibility he takes the job over completely next year at some point, but I do think the season starts as a group effort. And i do expect the Packers to add help in some form to the backfield. But it definitely looks like Monty will be driving this bus.
