"For 16 Sundays last year, most of us wondered if Treadwell was even in the building."

Man, I'm right there with you. And don't really disagree all that much with anything you are saying. I really don't have high hopes. Just saying I think the chances of him being a wr2, even low end, are better than 1/12 and that's better than a 2nd round pick.

I have never been a Treadwell fan and thought he was a grossly overhyped/overvalued prospect. But he is exactly that - a prospect.

BUT.. If you drafted him - you should not have gone in with the expectation that a 21 year old is going to jump in and immediately start dominating NFL starters. The odds are that it is going to take him some time to develop him.

If you have him - you probably drafted him because you believe in him, just have patience. He is just a kid.

I traded for him because he was a perfect buylow candidate. I hate the idea on giving up on a young player in year one who was clearly a top 3 rookie pick. I'll always try to acquire a few high upside boom or bust players. His college tape showed that he has alot of athletic ability & is a gamer. I have enough WR depth that I can take on a cheap roster clogger. I generally don't sell low on players to begin with. I understand selling if you just need value & your team is hurting for wr depth. But even in that scenerio I'd rather work the wire hard & hope I catch the next Tyrell, Tyreek wrs ect.

I made a semi-blockbuster deal two months ago in which I dealt the 1.5, 2.6, '18 and '19 2nds, and Rob Kelley and DGB for Corey Coleman, Cameron Meredith and the aforementioned Treadwell. I'm not out on him, and am sniffing around periodically to see how far the price has declined, but most that still have him are holding tight because of the cost of investment, don't want to give up hope etc. I saw him enough at Ole Miss pre-broken leg to believe that he could be a special size option, especially in the red zone, and they don't have a WR like him on the roster. If he busts, he busts. Won't be the first after all, but I'm willing to invest if the cost is cheap considering the brutality of the injury in late '14, and then landing with a coach and system that just wasn't a good match for a rookie. None of the returns early on are good at all, but I think he's worth a speculative add if you can get him cheap, but again, the coach, and the QB are a nightmare for him.

Young guy. Patience is the key with Treadwell. The old adage comes to mind "the cream always rises to the top".
Treadwell will come on strong this season.

Crabtree was productive, he just developed in the traditional WR sense of taking about 3-4 years to produce. Crabtree's value dropped because of injuries and an offense that just wasn't using him well.

Not the same as Treadwell. Sure he's developing, but the issue is that:

1. He couldn't even get on the field as a rookie.
2. He was labeled as an NFL-ready WR and was more raw than anyone anticipated.

I still think the jury is out, but those are some hefty red flags. Injuries could have something to do with it though.

Plenty of reason to be worried and nervous, I think he's a worthy trade target just because his upside could be quite high and it's rare you could get a guy with WR1 potential at such a reasonable trade cost, but you're right, the reason his cost is reasonable in some quarters is because his floor is a Charles Rogers styled Mega-Bust (although I think Rogers could have been good if not for injuries and if memory serves, addiction issues) who never does squat.

Agree here.

Pessimists say he's a bum, cut him, sell him, retire already.

Optimists (like me) say chill, wait, relax, he's 21 still, etc..

"Optimists" could also be defined as "Treadwell's Dynasty Owners." :D

One thing not mentioned yet is that the Vikings were reportedly "all in" on Jeffery when free agency started. Jeffery (again, reportedly) declined a multi-year deal to sign with Philly. If true, that's not an organizational vote of confidence for Treadwell.
Risk-averse players want guarantees. The gamblers understand that there are no guarantees.

Yeah the Jeffery piece of news doesn't bode well for Treadwell imo. If they had landed him Treadwell would've been what...? WR4 on a not so hot passing offense. Even without Jeffery he's going to have to pass hometown favorite Thielen, who just signed a new deal, Diggs and Rudolph for targets. He couldn't pass CORDARELLE PATTERSON last season. Say what you will, but that's no bueno to me.

Dude's 21 years old. It's far too early to give up on him, especially given his elite upside. Them bringing in Alshon could've been their way of having an older veteran who could produce now and bring Treadwell along to take over in a few years. We really don't know what their reasoning was. He's a hold/buy low for another year at least.
