Sure. Him falling to the 7th should raise eyebrows about how teams think his physical tools will translate and it does decrease his paper chance of success. However, I don't think you can watch his games and not see a player who has several plus receiver traits. For an end of bench addition, I'll take it.

Ford will be the sleeper every average owner in your league targets late. Then he will ride the pine and end up on the wire because they give up on him too soon.

At least Hodges has elite upside, when it comes to traits rewarded by the hobby. I see no reason to roster Ford in standard 25 man leagues until he does something. At some point the collective opinion of all 32 professional teams should outweigh our own.

Oh god, no. Not in a 25-man league. Good lord. No.

My smallest roster in dynasty is 40 (largest is 53), so Ford is a viable Watch List name for me.

Bad landing spot, and a terrible draft for Ford, needless to say. He's way off my board for round 3.

I think it's possible Ford could end up the second best WR on the roster, but

- Tannehill is a check on every Miami receiver in fantasy not named Jarvis Landry
- Miami is now a run-heavy offense, at least insofar as what passes for 'run-heavy' in today's NFL
- Stills wasn't resigned for that hefty chunk of change to warm the bench
- Miami isn't giving up on Parker anytime soon and will likely be with the team through 2019
- Ford's 7th round selection speaks for itself (although I admit to being surprised he dropped that far)

So much can change for our purposes before and after the NFL draft. smh

I'm guessing in 95% of 12-team leagues, you'll be able to 'store' him on the wire. The odds he does anything at all in 2017 are microscopic. It's not even a given he'll make the Miami roster. Put Ford on your watch-list and don't marry a guy no one else will pick up to a spot on your bench.

If it's any consolation, I do this all the time. The trick, obviously, is to be watching the guy more carefully than everyone else so that at the very earliest indicators of buzz, you can swoop in and pick him up first.

^^^
this with players like ford you have 2 options
1) roster them for an unknown amount of time hoping for the role & results you wish and then lose patience and release the pet player
2) watch them but do not roster them 1st them in hopes of being the smartest guy in the room thus perhaps calling attention to a player some of your league mates sleep on.
I am in multiple leagues with several managers and I typically have quite strong rosters. I noticed in a few leagues guys continually picking up fringe or project guys that I roster as soon as I release them as they had more space due to weaker rosters . These are guys the managers had on zero rosters who would then go grab my waived guys on every roster . So if I really like a player that is buried or mostly under the radar I will completely ignore them until I have a reason to perk up. Then I will go in at 3A.M. and grab them on every roster I have a spot .
It has bit me a time or two but usually the patience has paid off.
possible examples this season matt breida , bug howard rushel shell .... probably never really make a difference in a league but worth keeping an eye on for free.

Welp. For team in sig, he went undrafted (6 rounds) and I was able to scoop him up in auction for just a buck! I would have been willing to draft him in the 6th if I had a pick that late, so this was a nice surprise to get him as a cheap flyer.

I'm in a 14 team league that has 53 man rosters, 10 man taxi squads and a 8 round draft. Ford still went undrafted. Guess we'll see what he costs to acquire in waivers soon. ;)
