3 seconds for a first?

Postby ItsHandsomeDave » Fri Mar 10, 2017 6:23 pm

Curious to get everyones thoughts on this as a general strategy for a team in a heavy rebuild.

Would three mid to late second rounders be worth trading a mid first round pick for? Im of the mind that it might be worth the gamble, but the talent drop off historically is by the middle of the second round tends to be very high.

If you are getting the first it sounds like a good idea. If you are sending the first it sounds like a bad idea.

I would trade the 1.08 or later for any trio of 2nd round picks, assuming I'm in a deep league where people aren't cutting 2nd rounders who don't immediately work out

Depends on team needs and who you have to cut. Lot of teams that hoarded picks are in a roster crunch right now.

I would have to see after the draft to make a true decision this year. Also, is it mid first like 1.5 or 6, or more like 1.08 or 9? If it is the latter, I could see potentially trading a Kamara/Foreman/Juju type (just spitballing here) for Perine, Ford, one of the TE's, Hunt, McNichols, etc. Those three compared to one of those guys, unless they have a great landing spot, would make me pause. Its just so hard to make that call right now, without landing spots. That, and I would need the specifics of the picks. A couple spots could make the difference.

Pretty much this. 1.05/6 not happening for me
After that definitely depend on the specific picks but doubtful unless one is an early 2nd

I did a lot of trades where I gave about 3 players/picks that were around 2nd round value for 1sts and was able to get deals done. Now that the picks are set though, I would definitely wait for more information before doing that in either direction (unless it's a good 1st I guess).

Agree with posters above. Depends on first.

I would deal my 1.08 for 3 seconds. I wouldn't deal my 1.05 or 1.06 for 3 seconds.

Hope that helps. Completely depends on level of first and who that player is

How does this change if the 2nds are early? What would three 2nds in the 2.1 - 2.5 range net in the 1st?

I still think at most it would net the 1.8 for me, maybe 1.7. I still think the top six or seven will be better dart throws even than three mid-level dart throws. It gets close after that.

I haven't had any luck trying to move 3 2s for first rounders this year. I did move 2.6/2.10/3.2 for a mid/late 2018 1. I also saw 2.2/2.7 for mid/late future 1. I could see both of the above possibly getting you into the 1.9/1.10 range but not anything more.

I have the 1.10 and I would trade for 3 second for it as long as they weren't all super late. But 2.2,2.7 and 2.11 I would do it
