Never been a Mike Glennon fan and thought he looked mediocre when he started. If I were a team I'd rather roll the dice with AJ McCarron. But assuming the Bears draft a QB I guess Glennon makes a good steady placeholder with limited upside. But if you're building while another QB develops why would you keep Hoyer? He's probably better and probably cheaper.

The battle for third in the NFL Norse just got a jolt with this signing! Bears vs. Queens, Glennon for Tammy Bridgeford, for the right to stay out of the cellar. Jokes aside, sometimes guys like this end up being decent for fantasy stats, not so much for real life. I am thinking this thread and the Cam Mer. thread could be merged into some good combo-discussion.

Reading this thread...the hype is LOW. The vibe is basically "yeah sure worth a roster spot in a superflex but other than that..." Pretty much every BACKUP QB deserves a roster spot in a superflex. Glennon is just hated in the fantasy community. Hype is a funny word to associate with him.

Side note- I actually like Glennon a bit. I thought he did ok a few years back, and that was a pretty trashy team if I remember right. He was throwing regularly to Tiquan Underwood. I'm actually sort of perplexed about where all these seemingly validated opinions of "he sucks" is coming from. Did ESPN air a Glennon sucks special? While we are trashing Glennon I will jump on Glennon's side.
Not saying he is great but some food for thought. He wasn't awful but the Bucs were staring a franchise guy in the face in Winston. Had to take him that year.

Anyway while I am not sure I totally agree below is pretty close to the #'s
18 starts across 2 years 13/14 threw for 4000 yards and sub 60% completion rateand I think 15INT's/4FL with 29TD's

I mean considering Bridgewater started 28 games with 28TD's and nearly as many turnovers is Glennon really throwing in the towel for a team like CHI that want to run the ball?

Those were some not good TB teams but not sure it was all Glennon's fault

Your link doesn't exist, maxhyde.
I'm curious as to what you may have been linking as I also like Glennon more than the crowd. I didn't even know I was high on him until I got a sense for how much everyone else dislikes him.

Yeah it was a quote from 14TeamMocker tweet a day ago comparing him to TeddyB but I sucked bad at getting the tweet to post so just looked up the #s instead

I mean I get he isn't a franchise guy but as a stop gap he has at least some upside I think. He wasn't give much of a shot in TB.
I am not buying him for much but he shouldn't hinder the Bears shot at being competitive like some think

This news makes me hope all the more that someone backs up the armored truck to Alshon's front door.

I really don't want to see him back in Chicago attempting to catch passes from Mike Glennon. And it looks like the Bears are going to take their sweet time with the rebuild. Agreed with Stevens61310 above that this likely means the Bears will be drafting their "QB of the future".

I think the main concern with this signing is that I don't think the Bears see it as a stopgap. Best case scenario is the Bears find a diamond in the rough and Glennon ends up as the next Matt Flynn.

I saw someone mention that he was replaced because the team had Winston staring them in the face. This is false. He was replaced by the signing of Josh McCown. He got to play a few games when McCown was hurt, but the Bucs management at the time had so little faith in the kid that they brought in a guy at a sizeable expense that had one freak season under a CFL offense and a fairly long career of mediocrity.

Further, this isn't a team with solid parts to build around. They might bring back Jeffrey, but outside of that you have a lot of questionmarks and some outright bad players. A mediocre QB is not going to get it done and with a coach going into his third season... this will likely get that coach fired and create more upheaval on a bad team.

That was such a weird year. It made no sense that they kept starting McCown. Granted Glennon was a pick by the previous regime, but he performed better than McCown and for some reason they stuck with McCown even on a 6 game losing streak to end the season. We can say that it was because they had little faith in him. I think it was more that management was stupid and/or they were tanking to get the top pick.
