Adrian Petersen headed to FA, Best Landing Spots?

Postby chopping mall » Tue Feb 28, 2017 10:20 am

It's being reported my Vikings are letting Petersen hit FA :(

but for fantasy what's the best opening spots? I'm thinking if the Raiders let Murray also walk I would love AP to have a good Oline for the next 2-3 years!

I could see him going to New Orleans to pair up with Brees.

Oak, TB.....Texas teams will come up since it's close to home....but don't see it either the boys or texans.....

Tax reasons go to Tampa, one I heard the other day was seattle..... don't see him getting more the 5 mil, would be real comfortable with him @ about 3 mil per.

I know he was commenting on NYG but I just don't see it.

Every high profile name gets linked to NE and Blount's a FA...

But it could make sense if he's willing to sign a discounted deal to piggy back off Brady & Belichick and be a SB contender his final years in the league?

I don't think they run a lot out of the shotgun, which he has shown to struggle in.

Tampa and Oakland seem like the best fit for his running style. I don't see NO as Ingram has good size and hands to be multi capable in a pass first offense. Seattle maybe? They like the power run and play D style of game and they're backfield situation is muddy since Rawls has been in and out. What if he went to GB?? Pulls a reverse Favre. Let Lacy walk and combine AP and Ty. Dangerous. If Blount isn't back AP behind Brady would keep the pressure off the passing game a bit more. All just random thoughts.

I mean, if I'm AP, I've made a boatload of money over my career. I'd take a huge pay cut to play with Brady and Belicheck and have not just a shot, but a really really good bleep at a SB. NE has to be a top 5 favorite again next season, if not the overall favorite

^ huh? :wall:

70-80% of AP even at 31-32 years old is significantly better than over half of the younger rb currently in the league.

Not sure at all what your response meant, but, I'd sure love to hear you explain it. AP out of the league helps who exactly? Who benefits?

It's time to sell McKinnons if you have them. I feel like that's the biggest takeaway from this news. Peterson looked bad last year and I know the line was putrid, but this is AP's age 32 season. You have to hope that a team doesn't try to make him a bellcow next year, because I don't feel like he can handle it anymore. Finding a fit for him is generally very hard. I guess it depends how much they believe in him. He's always been less effective from the shotgun so that limits his options, and his RZ efficiency rate isn't great either. I'm rooting for a reverse Favre situation where he goes and plays in GB for a few years, but maybe a team like Washington takes a chance on him. If they clean house, Snyder will want to boost ticket sales next year, and they'll have the cap room should Cousins get dealt.

I just don't think he's good anymore and I don't think he can help a team win a championship. And a 32 year old RB with multiple knee injuries isn't really an asset. He can't be an RB1 in my opinion. Maybe a goalline back at best, but he's not a feature RB that a team can lean on. I'd rather have the 70-80% of younger RBs who will cost 80-90% less and be able to be involved in 70-80% more plays (be it the passing game and/or special teams).

Unless he takes a pay cut, and doesn't go for top dollar, I can't see many teams wanting to sign him. If he signs a contract like Gore did, 3 years 12 mil (maybe a little more), he may be able to go to a good offense.

I just don't see many teams lining up to pay an older RB, when the league seems to be going away from leaning on one bell cow back.

not a good year for a rb to be prideful and try to hold any franchise hostage for $ regardless of resume' , he may have a bit left but he better have his hat in his hand when he makes a salary request . As previous poster mentioned he is not a boon to every system so it will take the right fit and the right role .

As long as it's not the Raiders - I don't care.

I think he's done because a high end RB.

Problem is he is not really a pass catcher or blocker; so limits where he goes. How much do you want to pay a one trick pony, with injuries and age? Especially with this draft class...........

That'd be awesome, just as an NFL fan, to see.
