He's only played 2 years, how can we describe him as someone who gets hurt every year? I mean, mathematically you are correct, he's been injured both years. But it's not like Arian Foster or Sean Lee where we have a long track record of constant injuries.

You have to have a lead, or at least be close, in most of your games in order to run 546 times in a season. I do think it would be better for the Jags to run the ball more because of Bortles flaws but if the defense can't stop anything I find it hard to believe the jags run the ball 34+ times a game when they averaged around 24 rush attempts per game last year.
Obviously. But that defense is on the rise. Not unrealistic to see them in a lot of close games, even if they lose them.

They regressed..but Fred Jackson was 33 years old and banged up and Spiller only played 9 games. Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown were their RB's. Also their RB's saw 146 targets that season compared to 116 in 2013, so opportunity for touches was still there. Yeldon quietly caught 50 balls last season and 36 as a rookie. They want to run the ball.

I was a cautious believer going into last season, but I'm staying away now. Those saying Yeldon's injuries last year were unlucky, just aren't informed; the truth is Yeldon has had trouble with injuries every season of football he's played going back to college. No major tears or anything, but consistent injuries that either force him to miss a few games and/or play gimped (e.g. the reason his YPC dropped a full yard his final collegiate season mostly had to do with injuries). Put this together with the fact that he's just not an exceptional athlete (by NFL standards) in the first place, and that there's been regime change in Jacksonville that probably doesn't value him as the high 2nd-round pick he was selected with, and I think objectively people have to concede that his prospects are pessimistic.

Marrone likes mundane power-backs that he can just run it up the gut with every hand-off. That guy isn't Yeldon; his weight/height seems to fit the bill, but the truth is he runs like a quicker than fast scatback and isn't great about his pad-level. Either Jacksonville drafts a quality power-back prospect in this year's draft (it'll be easy to get one, probably even as late as early Day 3), or they give Ivory a chance to carry a near full load (which probably won't work out since although he fits Marrone's preferences, he can't stay healthy either).

One positive note for the Jax run-game: the defense is getting any better, and that tends to synergize with the offense's rushing-game in game-flow terms, as we know. Despite the lack of counting stats, the Jax D was quietly sixth in the league in yards allowed last season. If you look at the talent on the roster, there's some high quality youth there. They need Dante Fowler to live up to his pedigree, and for Myles Jack to play up to his talent. If they get that, watch out; could very quickly become an elite unit in the league. Jalen Ramsey already looks like a future superstar, and Yannick Ngakoue is that middle of the draft, passing-rushing hidden gem teams are always hoping to land every year.

Today gave me some hope, after seeing the zombie AKA TJ Yeldon run well. I just watched the game on gamepass, and tried to watch with no bias. He was definitely the better runner vs Ivory, so I'm not sure if this is a pass pro thing or what.

He will be a free agent in 2018 tho, so maybe he can at least get a Latavius Murray type situation where there's a sell moderately-high, if nothing else?

Personally, I still think he's absolutely talented enough to lead an NFL backfield, but clearly there's more to this picture...

I posted this last week in a thread regarding Ivory:
skip wrote: Thu Oct 19, 2017 10:23 am If something happens to Fournette, I'd expect Yeldon to be activated and a good bet to see more touches than Ivory. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I've never seen Ivory as anything more than a plodder with limited versatility (his last game not withstanding).
While Yeldon was out-touched (17-11), he is clearly the superior back to Ivory who should be cut this off season.
