And if I understand correctly, Floyd still has a contract. If he is picked up from waivers before the new season, he will not count against a team (FA's added). Sort of a "freebie" when it comes to the +/- that determines compensatory picks.

I believe it was Field Yates who confirmed but if a team does claim him, and loses him to FA, they are eligible for that comp pick.

Yeah it is a convoluted process with little clarity to me but the team that claims him could pay his $429K and never even make him active. I don't know if there is an accrual time that Floyd needs to be on the roster for his new team to get a comp pick but pretty slick deal if his new team could end up with up to a 3rd in 2018 for 'losing' him in FA in March

Wow...he made it a long way through. Bill must know something about the compensatory pick process other teams ignored

Very interesting. If you're a Floyd owner do you hold him, or trade him while you have a temporary spike in perceived value? Assuming you can still trade...

If the Patriots can lock him up on a bargain deal, this offense will be unstoppable next year.

Is Floyd now worth 4 or 5 2017 1st rounders? Having a hard time pinning down the exact value in terms of picks with him.

Immediate sell if you get anything remotely appealing.

Edelman..Mitchell...Hogan...Bennett...no room for Floyd. Probably picked him up as a flyer or for the comp pick.

I would bet it is the comp pick in '18. If he can help them great...if not it just cost them some $

I mean other than the $ nothing for teams like DAL/NE to lose. Just a bonus if he is actually motivated and can help them during the post-season.

Crazy thing is for the crappy 14 weeks he has had if he can put together 2-3 solid games in the playoffs his value will probably rise not decline no matter what happens in March

So nobody else placed a claim, except one of the two teams that had the last chance to.

I sincerely doubt a mediocre/bad team would claim him now, as he could easily walk in 2017...that would filter out half the league's teams/claims.
