Mike Thomas that late seems like a steal, he went 2.08 in our superflex league.

I agree - could be one of the steals of this draft.

Interesting to look back at drafts objectively. Reinforces the fact that some 1sts, most 2nd,3rd, and 4th round rookies just don't turn out like we hope. Hit rates are low. Also interesting how opinionated and confident some posters are and in hind site many are / we're just flat wrong. Hind site is a b#$@&.

Looks like the answer was wait 1 year and both (ie they both break out in Yr 2)? :)

Its always kewl to bump theses up to review - and hopefully learn a little in hindsight.
Please speak to clarion contrarion before considering the use of vetos..

I love these kind of threads because they always remind me of one thing, most people have almost no idea what they are talkin about when it comes to players.

Always nice to remember for the current threads where people are spouting off on who will or won't be anything.

I was browsing through some old threads, the "Where are you drafting Ebron and Sankey" thread was particularly entertaining. Both were going early-mid 1st in rookie drafts.

MFL is great for that. I'm in a league going back to 04. Seeing where guys get taken is sometimes hilarious...and the franchise owners wonder why they are always on the bottom of the barrel...

OMG! I traded up to grab Ebron at 1.05 that year. SMH.

Thanks for opening up the wound guys.
:(

Yeah - it essentially ended up being trading away Carson Wentz for Josh Doctson, Paxton Lynch & Keith Marshall.
This one did not turn out in my favour, obviously.

Luckily - I am still sitting pretty nice at QB, but it still really hurts.

I remember the year I was at my boldest in trying to leverage rookie picks into long term success for my squad.

It was 2010, and I had amassed the 1.01, 1.02, and 1.04 picks. I was on top of the world, and convinced that I was about to set up my team for years of dominance because how could I miss with picks like that?

Well, it netted me Sam Bradford, Ryan Mathews, and Dez Bryant. When you look at that objectively, I think you'd say that I hit on 1 of 3 picks. Realistically, I think that's what you should expect from a rookie draft, and a .333 batting average isn't too shabby. This is what I've learned from my experience in dynasty.

No matter how much of a "sure thing" you think you're getting with your rookie picks, it's a crap shoot. You'll notice Michael Thomas is also on my roster, and the year he came out most were not particularly enamored with his talent. I had the 1.09 pick and that's the direction I went. Now the guy is considered a 2nd round startup pick at worst in PPR.

Funny how things work out, and we're rarely as smart as we think we are. Evaluation and study help, but there's no guarantees.
