Using the groupme app in your league

Postby basilthesnake » Sun Jun 05, 2016 8:25 pm

I was introduced to it through a start-up this spring. What an excellent tool. Suppose any app that accomplishes the same thing will work. Great way to get to know league mates, push along drafts, and create trade talks. Wish I knew how to create a module for MFL to use the app on the homepage and eliminate the current league chat. Anyone aware of anything like that? Anyone have a bad experience with an app like this in reissue their league?

I've introduced it to my ESPN league I commission after learning about it in a startup a month ago. It works great and we're yet to have any problems in either league. Definitely better than the email system on ESPN.

Works really well in my league. Can PM, attach files, pretty solid. I suppose you could do the same with What's App but it's nice to be able to keep the chat alive on the desktop too.

We've started using it in the DLF Premium League, and almost the whole league has joined so far. It's nice to be able to break out from the main chat to talk a trade with someone all within the same app.

Never used it, but may try rolling out to my Friends league. What do people typically use it for? Trash talk, Trade Block, general conversation? Isn't it simply a duplicate of the Chat on the league page?

Sounds great but I'd have to have everyone get a smartphone first. LOL

League chat can be cleared and after 20 messages have been said it's gone. With an app like this the conversation doesn't go away. It's mainly a league party line. Sometimes a bunch of members talk sometimes one guys says something and that's that. You can add pictures and links. You can start side conversations with an owner you don't know in the same way you'd text with someone, but it just makes sense inside of the app. You can mute conversations when you're working or busy and come back to it. When you are muted, someone can put an "@" and your name and you'll get a notification that you were mentioned in a chat. From an outside view our league would look dead because no one is using the league chat, we are all communicating with group me.

Thanks for the details. And the advantage over What's App? Is that it works on desktops? I may explore it and know there will be 'but why?' Questions.

I've had a couple of groups switch to this. It seems to draw people to the conversations and there is a lot more chatter. The main downside for me is that the App kills battery life. So I mostly use it on the desktop.

On a Mac desktop? I was just looking at it based on the comments here, can get it on my phone or iPad, but looks like it isn't available for desktop.
