It's the time of year again, we are all itching to get drafts started. When does your league hold its rookie draft?

Remember, this is a poll for when your league actually holds it's draft, not the date you wish it drafted haha

Started the moment the NFL Draft ended. Timer comes on later, so at this time people can choose to pick or wait without a countdown. Usually goes pretty good pace.

Our draft starts after the 3rd week of preseason games. Allows everyone to not worry too much about football during the off season and also lets some training camp battles work themselves out before the draft.

I went with during the preseason because that's when most of my leagues draft but I have a rookie draft that takes place in two weeks.

For my league which is going into its 13th season, the cut down day to trim rosters to maximum of 13 players plus 1 optional spot for a 2 year practice squad keeper (player has to be a second year with less that 7 touch downs or less than 700 total yards, if QB less than 1,750 yards in rookie year) is 1st Friday in August at midnight EST. All players not kept go into the free agent pool for the free agent draft which commence on the Sunday after cut down. The rookie draft begins after the free agent draft has ended. Teams electing to keep less than the 13 participate in the free agent draft.

This Friday, A week from Friday, early-mid June {about 1/2 my leagues}, early July {a couple leagues}, mid-late August {redraft & light keeper leagues}, so generally the more complex/large the league, the sooner we get the draft started

Why the sad face? That's the perfect time imo. That's when i'm having my leagues rookie draft. I have leagues that are starting in the next week or two. I think that's crazy drafting a guy before you even see them hit the field in the pros. I suppose they like it that way so they can get bargain picks that blow up later.

It's closer to an NFL experience as well. As just like NFL team managers, you are drafting before nfl play. Like you said.

I have leagues which do both, and like both, and have no preference, and see the ups and downs of both.

1 starts today and the other 2 are 1-2 weeks before the NFL season

I don't believe in this "wait until 2 weeks before the regular season starts so the training camp battles work themselves out" or waiting until the last minute to draft to avoid the injury bug. If you want to be as realistic as possible, you have to take your lumps like the real NFL teams do......

I'm in two leagues. One draft starts Wednesday of this week, the other starts next Monday (a week after the NFL draft).
