Re: SEA Not Committing to Rawls? Deserving of Dynasty RB9 Ra
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll suggested Thomas Rawls (ankle) is still the team's lead back.
The Seahawks selected three running backs in the draft, but Carroll said Rawls represents "who we are and what we’re about." Undrafted out of Central Michigan, Rawls rushed for 830 yards and four touchdowns before fracturing his ankle in December. The ankle injury is likely a bigger concern than the draft picks considering how vague Seattle has been about his recovery. He is shaping up as a risk-reward RB1. - Rotoworld
Obviously the Seahawks needed depth at RB. It does sound as thought Rawls' 2015 will earn him first crack at the lead role if his ankle is up for it. I'm sure there will be much more written on this before camp, when we'll all find out just how the pieces fit. I'm still rolling with Rawls in the 10-20 range at RB.

I would imagine if a reporter asked him what he thought about Jimmy G he would probably say, 'Jimmy... He's an unquestioned superstar and a key part of what we plan to do this year.' This is nothing more than coach speak at this time I wouldn't read anything into it.Shoreline Steamers wrote:Seahawks coach Pete Carroll suggested Thomas Rawls (ankle) is still the team's lead back.

Except Pete Carroll tends to say what he means. He's not much for spin, like many other coaches across the NFL landscape.

Re: SEA Not Committing to Rawls? Deserving of Dynasty RB9 Ra
To me this all comes down to Rawls' health. If he's ready to go by training camp then I expect him to get first crack at lead back duties. If he's not healthy for the off-season program or isn't ready to go at the start of the year, it could then be very difficult for him to ascend back to the top of the depth chart without being involved in a full blown committee.

Agree 100%. If he is healthy at the start of the season I fully expect him to pick up where he left off last season and be a solid weekly starter, both in real life and fantasy.BuckeyeNation wrote:To me this all comes down to Rawls' health. ofc it comes down to health, because regardless of whether it is truly a factor or not, if he's not as good this year that will be the quoted reason.... or even if he's outplayed and is Wally Pipped before he can get back on the field.
As I said earlier in this thread, the one thing you can read into the amount of Draft Capital Seattle spent is that it is likely directly proportional to the the amount of concern team doctors have.

He's expected back for camp but not certain? An 8 month + recovery from a broken ankle should concern anyone...even non-doctors. Re: SEA Not Committing to Rawls? Deserving of Dynasty RB9 Ra
I don't think it was the broken ankle so much as the ligament damage. I've broken an ankle 3 separate times and was never out more then a few months. I also can't find much on this injury other then news at the time it happened. Ligament damage can be scary, but it can also heal up well. I don't think we'll see to much of this injury showing up in the regular season with the amount of time he's had to let it heal.maxhyde wrote:He's expected back for camp but not certain?
