To add to this point, in a superflex league where I was best record, highest scoring regular season, had Aaron Rodgers, Deseasn Watson, and Matt Ryan (crushed my semi final win after a quarterfinal bye) I lost the championship game to a guy who lost all of his Qbs and was starting Nick Foles and Josh freaking Johnson

I'd be more upset, but really I'm just impressed
That Nick Foles I tell ya - between last years playoffs and this past week he seems to have a knack for performing when it counts the most. If only he could do it all the time. ;)

Did not realize that Taco Corp was relying on him & Josh Johnson though - didnt really study the 2 rosters just the score.
Ha. I didn't look at the username to see I was responding to someone in that same league

We've been chatting in discord over the Christmas break. I'll get an end of year league wide email sent out tomorrow

Yeah I am probably one of the few who do not use Discord. I do use Groupme but half the time it is muted lol. Sounds good! Kudos again on finishing 2nd overall right off the bat! 8-)

I feel - now that I lucked into a title - that in the spirit of this thread I should discuss my team building strategy. What I did right, what I did wrong (lots), and just how fundamentally important that horseshoe stuck up your backside is come playoff time.

I took over the team coming into the 2016 season, and it looked like this:

Player 2015 Pts

Donnell, Larry NYG TE (I) 63.30
Fells, Darren ARI TE 70.10

To now, a team that looks like this:

Player YTD Pts

Keenum, Case DEN QB 272.80
Manning, Eli NYG QB 301.95
Davis, Mike SEA RB (Q) 136.80

25 Total Players
Injured Reserve
Guice, Derrius WAS RB (R) (I) ‐
Grant, Jakeem MIA WR (I) 60.30
Wallace, Mike PHI WR (D) 0.00

Shortly after I took over the team, my first son was born. And while he's fine now, he had a pretty terrifying start, with lots of time spent in the hospital. So while looking at the roster - terrible at QB, very good at RB, the GOAT at TE, a pretty fugly WR corps and zero high picks - I decided to distract myself from real life by trying to pull off that most mythical of rebuilds. The scorched earth. Everything had to go. That was just my first mistake...

I really liked the 2017 class, so my strategy was to sell out for 2017 picks. I wanted first rounders and lots of them. In retrospect, that was a really narrow, myopic plan. I turned down a lot of really excellent offers because they didn't contain a 2017 pick. I still kick myself about turning down an offer of Ertz and the 2016 1.04 for Gronk. Especially since I ended up trading his Gronkness and a 3rd rounder for Khiry, DGB (shudder - I was convinced he and Mariota were about to become a top pairing and bought him EVERYWHERE) and what turned out to be the 2017 1.05. I still consider this my biggest whiff. And that includes the trade of my other big piece, Le'Veon, who I traded with Ted Ginn, Tre McBride and what turned out to be the 2.01 for Allen Hurns, the 2016 1.05 and what turned out to be the 2017 1.07. So I essentially turned two of the top players in fantasy into magic beans. I put way too much faith in a class still a year away from declaring.

The most important lesson I've learned from this rebuild...the hard way, as you can tell...is not to assign trade values to players based on how *I* view them, but based on what they are worth to the community. Now, that can obviously vary from league to league. But I thought Bell was a oft-injured doofus who would eventually drive the Steelers to madness, and I thought Gronk played too physical a style to keep it up for long. Both of these things ended up being true...but not for a couple of years, where they were still excellent fantasy assets and should have returned me more if I didn't apply my personal discount to their trade value. Even worse, I made the elementary mistake of making the picks I got back for these players considerably worse. I should have held out, but as I said I was using this team as a distraction so I wanted trades and lots of them. Frankly, these moves should have torpedoed my team, and if the 2017 draft hadn't turned out to be a great one I'd be still spinning my wheels.

Aaaand apologies, I had planned to write more this evening son number 2 required his Dad, so I'm going to save this now, put myself to bed and add to it later. Hope that someone finds some value in it by the time I'm done.

The first ever DLF HOF dispersal draft will be starting tomorrow! This dispersal draft could be compared to like a Royal Rumble or Wrestlemania and to celebrate it I am going to announce the four contestants!!

In Corner #1 we have Brian "The Rock" Harr!! You've known and loved him on Trade Addicts Podcast now let us see how he will do against 3 other heavyweight contenders!

In Corner #2 we have Brett "the hockeybjj" Hart. When it comes to quarterbacks & Superflex no one has more heart than him!!

In Corner #3 we have Titus Youngs Ultimate Lawyer Warrior! Be warned fellow dispersal draft participants as you will not know if he will elbow smash, helf nelson or just outright sue you!!

Last but not least in Corner #4 saving the sexiest for last we have Rick "Valhalla" Flair! He said it himself so it must be true but he is great, awesome, genuine, outstanding, incredible guy and no he did not forgot to mention incredibly good looking!

Stay in your seats and stay tuned for the results from this Battle Royale!!!

I think that putting myself in the dispersal draft was a somewhat bush-league move. That being said, the stockholders saw a legal way to improve my team and I had to go for it. Pride doesn’t win championships, ask Ryan Pace whom refused to bring in kicker competition after giving big money to Cody Parkey.

Wait, what?!? Did you really enter yourself into the new owner disperal even though you had a team?

That's the funniest thing I've heard of in a long, long time. If someone pulled this in DLF Premium League, we'd name the Toilet Bowl after them. Shiva la Titus!

There was a vote to determine if current owners could partake, and it was allowed.

Curious, was the vote before or after the application to participate? If the vote was before it, I'm really curious as to why guys thought established owners/teams should have the option to effectively reformulate their teams. Let me know if this was discussed in the league message board, and I'll go look their.

BTW, this is someone who has earned the 1.01 pick in DLF Premium League in the last three years. So if I had the chance to redo my team, I'd be all over it!

Yeah it was a stupid decision by the league that I was vehemently against. The vote won 9-7 to allow existing owners to enter the dispersal. I’m surprised that so many owners with experience thought it was fine. I appreciate TYLs self awareness at least.

I cannot recall who asked if current owners could partake in the dispersal or not. I do not think it was TYL. as I was 'surprised' that he put his team in, and I do not think I would have been had it been him who had asked. In many of my leagues current owners are allowed to join a dispersal if they wish, some have conditions on who can or cannot join a dispersal but many tend not to. I voted for the right of current owners, but had no plans to partake myself, unless certain other owners did so, and I doubted they would due to their teams current conditions.
