DLF HOF Week X Results

auggiedoggies 147.80 maxhyde 128.35

When we look back on this season, this matchup & the one against Plank may have made their season. It certainly did not help maxhydes season as his team continues to be confused about which direction to take.

Seventy5 116.25 sloth8u 91.55

Seventy5 learns a valuable lesson in not to get too cute with lineups and to not take any opponent for granted as sloth8u comes reasonably close to an upset. Just imagine if Dalvin Cook had not been on bye ;)

Plank 105.40 TitusYoungsLawyer 71.50

Are owners starting to be less concerned about the threat to walk the Plank or is Plank simply becalmed at the moment?

steeveb 124.40 dlf_jaronf 122.95

Like the gubernatorial elections in Florida & Georgia this one may yet be too close to call. We'll see if DLF_JaronF calls steeveb to concede before the Thursday stat correction deadline. ;)

Dookmariot 153.20 JFever 65.50

You know how they say that one way to get rid of a pain is to have something else hurt? Well one way to get over the fear of winning is to have a fear of losing to JFevermania!

nation31 122.50 ericanadian 70.70

Who needs WRs when your TE is so good he Ertz your opponent all by himself?!?

Jules 105.50 ArrylT 66.05

As expected Jules acquisition of Batson allowed him access to the Bat signal and ArrylTs team was no match for superheroes - that and The Joker was too expensive to hire ...

Hah. Not sure my team is confused. Only one other team would have landed the 2 W points from me this week. They want to win just recovery from a tragic start makes it tough with such tight competition. Always that way in this league

Received a couple interesting / disappointing offers for Robert Woods recently. Interesting in that I think people love discounts when buying but not when selling..... Robert Woods continues to be a top 10 ish producing dynasty wr at 26 years old that is currently out producing TY Hilton, AJG, B.Cooks, Keenan Allen, ---- but the offers sent out for him seem to hint that people value him as a 30-32 year old on an average offense, without Gurley, and without Goff..... Do non owners not realize the consistency he brings? Or, perhaps they do and just don't want to pay for it? I expect more from this league / this group of owners. Am I wrong?

In a league made up of a group of owners that are well informed and highly active.

I dont know what price you are expecting to sell him at versus what prices you were getting. I was happy to sell him in the off-season, on a non-contender, in a SF for a late 1st (it netted me Sam Darnold) - but in a non-superflex especially with his continued production I could easily see someone wanting a top 6 1st now to move him.

Not a huge deal really. Man... my season in our HOF league has been just gross... I struggle with rebuilds. It's tough to stay the course. Its tough to not get a bit discouraged. The offer was just discouraging to see considering the projected value of the pick offered. I wouldn't post anything about who or what specifically was discussed out of respect. But, the offers were light. One was essentially a late to very late projected 2019 2nd straight up for R.Woods. So, yeah, one would think in our league, that offer was deliberately light right? It isn't as if people in our league are disconnected or under-informed, so there is that. The other two discussions were closer in my opinion. Just differing opinions on prospects vs production.

Personally while I disagree with, I am totally aware of and actually understand the rationale behind such 'awful' offers. Whether it is a late 2nd for Robert Woods (which is actually a 3rd in a 16 team league) or Nathan Peterman for Patrick Mahomes or 2 5ths for Amari Cooper or Jay Ajayi & Brandon Marshall for Todd Gurley - I understand these offers.

For many owners - they know deep down - they simply cannot compete fairly (in their current league due to the skill of most of the other owners). They need a golf handicap. This is their handicap - they have to start from a place of such low valuations because they know that if they start in the ballpark they risk 'losing' the trade - and they just are not skilled enough as dynasty owners to be able to do that. They either build their teams on hoping they can sucker other teams into bad deals, or get-rich quick schemes (aka lottery tickets). They simply do not have the time, patience, skill, desire or ability to actually make a reasonable offer and find out if a mutually beneficial offer is feasible.

Again I am not talking about offers where 1 owner values Melvin Gordon over Todd Gurley, George Kittle over Travis Kelce or Antonio Brown over Michael Thomas. Nor deals that look good on paper but are actually sneaky bad. If you think Marlon Mack & Emmanuel Sanders is better for your team than Julio Jones - good for you. You want to sell Tyreek Hill for a 1st - so be it. I'm only talking about offers that say 99.9% of engaged dynasty owners know are bad immediately by looking at them.

The owners that send these types of offers believe they either need to move the ballpark, hope that they can push an emotional button, or hope you will change your valuation if you engage. Or of course that you'll accept.

That is one reason why I like ADP & Dynasty rankings - not because I agree with the ADP or ranking of every player - but that if an owner sends me a 3rd for Robert Woods (ADP 41) then I know that that owner is not actually serious about wanting Woods. I find ADP & Rankings makes it easy to quickly separate the lazy & afraid owners from the well meaning but lacking in experience or knowledge owners.

Lol. true, true. Ya know ArryIT, Usually, it's me that goes on the long posts. lol.

I'm not angry or upset, I should go on the record with that. I guess, I just found it striking timing wise that now, this late in the season, 3 owners reach out to me or I otherwise discuss options with 3 different owners (I made contact with one as he was in same division as another) within the same week's time and a deal couldn't get done. I typically am a pretty easy guy to get deals done with. Anyway, it keeps things interesting, that is for sure. I really enjoy our DLF HOF league and I hope I'm able to stay the course and complete my rebuild. I feel like I'm on track some weeks. others.... blah, not so much.

LOL - Sometimes I find it hard to not write a long post - especially depending on topic. Once you get thoughts in your head they need to be let out. ;)

Like yourself I rarely get angry or upset by this - the only time it really bothers me is if an owner knows my valuation on a player from a past discussion / negotiation and they still send an awful offer for that player.

I won't go into the exact number of leagues I am in - but I am pretty pleased that it is a rare occurrence for the volume of leagues I partake in. I'd say maybe 8-10 offers a year I get are those 'should I be offended that anyone would think this is an offer to accept' offers.

Anyways I do hope you & everyone in our league is able to - if they want to make a trade - get a mutually satisfactory deal done.
