It's tough to comment without knowing startup requirements, whether or not it's a PPR, how long you can keep players, how many players you keep (2 or 20?). The dynamics change a lot with that info.

That said, Julio/Calvin is a great start in any format in my opinion.

Hard to tell how you did without seeing who was available when. You did the opposite of my advice. So let me see what your team looks like:

QB - Rivers
RB - Hill, Morris, Stewart
WR - Julio, Calvin, Watkins, ARob, Wright, Dorsett
TE - J Thomas, Eifert

So you start 2 WR 2 RB 1 Flex. This means Stewart and ARob or Watkins are on your bench every week.

What do you plan to do now? Where can you improve? I can see you trading up for a RB but I don't see you getting much better next year. You've got an old average QB and an average TE if you're lucky, and those two positions are going to be hard to fix. And you've got RBs and WRs on your bench. I definitely think you would've been better off with Gronk.

YMaster wrote:Ok so last night was my leagues first keeper league startup draft. We did it at Buffalo Wild Wings (awesome draft kit IMO). I wanted to get some opinions on how I did. I made a trade before the draft started: My 1.01, 6.10, 9.1 for the 1.03, 4.08, and 18.08.

1.03* - Julio Jones (Sorry Tsunami, I had to go with my gut and the results of my poll in the player debate forum).

2.10 - Calvin Johnson

3.01 - Jeremy Hill

4.08* - Sammy Watkins

4.10 - Alfred Morris

5.01 - Allen Robinson

7.01- Jonathan Stewart

8.10 - Tyler Eifert

10.10 - Kendall Wright

11.01 - Julius Thomas

12.10 - Philip Rivers

13.01 Phillip Dorsett

14.10 - Matt Jones

15.01 - Miami D (dont hate me cause I picked a D early lol)

16.10 - Ronnie Hillman

17.01 Cody Parkey

18.08* - James Starkes

18.10 - Ty Montgomery

The "*" denotes the acquired pick through trade. So how did I do overall guys?
I honestly do not like the trade you made for hte draft. You should not have needed to give you 9th round--that swings it in the other direction for me.

I see you being pretty strong at WR, and super weak at RB.

All of my targets flew off the board early. Its like everyone was high and low on the same players I was. Should I try and trade Watkins then? I can possibly swing a trade to pick up a good RB.

I could also see if I can move Dorsett?

edit: Someone just dropped Duke Johnson from their team, should I make a claim?

You should probably make some moves for yourself, not ask for someone else's opinion every time you make a move...its YOUR team isn't it? Also, for future reference this would go in the TEAM ADVICE forum...I see you're new, soni understand for the mistake this time

I don't think the TE thing is a big deal personally. Everybody has their own strategy on that position, but I can tell you I win lots of leagues, redraft and dynasty while weak or average at the position. Sure, it hurts you some weeks, but I always wait on it and load up on rb/wr. I wait on qb and te also and usually at least make the playoffs in most my leagues. Once in awhile I will jump on a qb, such as drafting Luck when he was a rookie (don't remember what round it was, maybe 5-7 which is high for me with a rookie qb). Looks pretty solid, not sure about the trade, but I know I hated getting a top pick in dynasty this year in particular. It seems better for redraft this year to have a high pick, but middle or end for dynasty, first round or two at least,
