*AD-Adrian Peterson.
I never understood why All Day or AD got just changed to AP by lazy Vikings fans here in MN. I know it has stuck with some of the masses and has an easy ring to it, but he has had that nickname since he was little and said he likes the tag. What ever happened to the cool nicknames. The Fridge would be WP now, Ickey would be EW, The Boz would be BB, well you get the point. I do like using abbreviations on sites like this, don't get me wrong.

The back end of my roster is populated by Z-Zen, Ru-Ran, Mi-Dy and Ju-40, and I've got Mar-Mar starting at QB while Tommy's in the doghouse. There's J-Jel and J-Cyp on D and Ifo E-O on IR.

Re: Player names and abbreviations
This is not a knock on anyone in here, just fans in general, and I know I'm guilty of it, but fans are way to lazy today. How hard is it to give a player an actual real nickname instead of just abbreviating their name. Sorry rant over. Continue with the Abbreviations

Re: Player names and abbreviations
I've been playing long enough that DJax makes me think Darrell Jackson, though I was guilty of calling LaDanian Tomlinson "LT" which meant someone else to even older fans.Csl312 wrote:Fixed that for you.FantasyFreak wrote: Aaron Rodgers-A-Rod, ARodg, A-A-ron

Actually I think it was lazy non-Vikings fans that started the AP thing.Friction wrote:*AD-Adrian Peterson.

Re: Player names and abbreviations
Ya think so? I only started hearing it here in MN once they figured out who he was (well after they drafted him and he started getting hype). I remember being at a big draft party and all these "diehards" saying he was going to be a bust and was overrated/injury prone. I do notice a lot of MN sports fans are really bandwagon though and fair weather fans, so I took it all with a grain of salt. I am a huge Sooner fan and knew he was the real deal.slaughterrt wrote:Actually I think it was lazy non-Vikings fans that started the AP thing.Friction wrote:*AD-Adrian Peterson.

Re: Player names and abbreviations
I agree but at the same time I don't feel like we can't just create nicknames on the message board. They have to exist either because it was a nickname given to them by friends, family, teammates or maybe the media. If anyone came in here and just said a random name and claimed it was a player's new nickname I'd think he was lame.Kilmer wrote:This is not a knock on anyone in here, just fans in general, and I know I'm guilty of it, but fans are way to lazy today. There are still a few actual nicknames out there but I feel like they don't get used a lot unless the player is a consistent stud. I remember when teammates stopped calling Adam Jones "Pacman" when he was terrible. But some of the existing nicknames out there:
Megatron (Calvin Johnson)
Muscle Hamster (Doug Martin)
Black Unicorn (Martellus Bennett)
Edit: Don't forget Greg the Leg or Legatron (Greg Zuerlein), Seabass (Sebastian Janikowski), Honey Badger (Tyrann Mathieu), Beast Mode (Marshawn Lynch), Big Ben (Roethlisberger), Boobie (Anthony Dixon), Fitzmagic (Ryan Fitzpatrick), Johnny Football (Manziel), The Law Firm (Benjarvus Green-Ellis), Matty Ice (Matt Ryan), Run DMC (Darren McFadden), Shady McCoy (Lesean McCoy), and of course Smokin' Jay Cutler.
