Seventy5 wrote: Fri Sep 22, 2017 12:20 pm I don't think a lot of casual football viewers or 95% of fantasy footballers fully understand how much more 'talented' a great situation and opportunity can make a player LOOK. Sure, a Running Back looks good when he's nearly at full speed by the time he hits the LOS, goes 5 yards without being touched, and then only has to make the safety miss or lower his shoulder and run him over with 8 yards of steam. Fantasy owners also see their guy gaining 0.1 point every yard downfield the player goes and the emotions probably go something like 'There you go!...I knew he was good, I knew it!' which then gets them excited/happy with he player. The reality is, the o-line should be credited for creating a hole a jumbo freaking jet could have driven through and the safety who got trucked and will be on ESPN highlights the next three days was at a disadvantage because the RB had 6-8 yards of steam to build up and was just trying to make the tackle/stop. Conversely, Leonard Fournette had a highlight worthy run week 2...but it won't make highlight reels because it only resulted in a 3 yard gain. Not all yards are equal, and stat box scouts continually ignore this (even some fantasy football websites do as well, and you can clearly tell when the writer has actually watched the game or if he is just trying to make his article sound fancy with statistics to push content out there with numbers that are easy to digest for readers...most people don't have time to sit there and read through a Waldman style full breakdown of what is ACTUALLY happening on the field). Context - don't dismiss it.

Having said all that--off the top of my head while I drink my afternoon coffee--I'll go with:

LeVeon Bell
David Johnson
Leonard Fournette
LeSean McCoy
Todd Gurley
Jay Ajayi
Ezekiel Elliot
Joe Mixon
Dalvin Cook
Melvin Gordon

Hyde, McCaffery, Freeman, and possibly Montgomery are knocking on the door for me. I think guys like DeMarco are probably rated fairly (RB12-24 range) then I think these guys are probably underrated due to bad situations, injuries, competition for touches, etc:

Isaiah Crowell
Jamaal Charles
Doug Martin
Adrian Peterson (what would we be thinking of him if he were playing for Dallas right now and Zeek was suspended?)
Frank Gore
Giovani Bernard
Ryan Mathews
Surprised no Hyde, Lynch or Ingram
Hyde is in there, but like I said...'off the top of my head while I drink my afternoon coffee" and apparently the coffee hadn't kicked in yet haha. Id have Lynch up in tier 1, Ingram down with Crowell/Martin. I even like (or liked) Jstew just as much at one point.

I'd honestly forgotten about Freeman as well, he constantly scores well but is forgotten more often than not. I wonder why that is

I think he is very good and fits that offense perfectly...but I don't think he would be what he is now if he was on a different team.

The only reason I don't include DJ and Leo that high is because of their hips. Everything else is great.

I'm no expert but I think the Joe Mixon breakout is going to happen sooner rather than later and it's not hard for me to imagine him being very, very, very good in this league for a very long time based on what I'm seeing so far.

DJs hips? The guy has one of the biggest jump-cuts in the NFL. That takes good hip flexibility and explosiveness.

i'm sorry but no it does not. when I refer to hips its the ability to change directions while running forward, if that makes any sense. jump cuts have very little to do with your hips.

At first when you said he had poor hips I just thought you hadn't seen DJ play at all and now I think it's more that you just don't know what jump cuts are, would you like to explain how jump cuts have very little to do with your hips?

PS here's a source for different kinds of cuts if you need a refresher: https://footballbeyondthestats.wordpres ... bs-part-2/

Nice source, a blogger lol.

Again, if any of you actually played football you would understand that jump cuts are more vision and quick twitch than anything else. Definitely not flexibility in your hips. Go do a jump cut in your front yard and tell me where you feel it instead of listening to a bloggers write up about cuts.

Well I mean the guy who wrote it has been a strength/conditioning/movement coach for almost 2 decades and has worked with multiple NFL athletes including Anthony Barr, Everson Griffen and Adrian Peterson but yeah, I guess he's just a blogger.

Also you're making two incorrect assumptions here 1) that nobody here has played football, can pretty much guarantee you that's not true and 2) that you have to have done something to know about it, I'm not and have never been a carpenter but if you show me a table or a chair I can tell you if it's shitty or not.

He is no Shakira, but DJs hips seem fine to me.
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...
