#petpeeve rant

First off I know this post is doesn't belong in the Dynasty League Discussion section but since this is a Sunday before the 4th it might go unnoticed by the mods for a couple days and I just need to get this off my chest and put this out there.

O.K. full disclosure: I don't do twitter mostly because I equate it to political sound bites replacing reasoned political discourse. But I do understand the unitarian purpose of a hashtag within the context of twitter. What I do not understand is its use outside of that realm. I'm now starting to see this used more often and it's really bugging me. It just seems like a word in any given statement has the same meaning with or without that stupid hashtag symbol in front of it. So, for the love of God, can anyone tell me what added significance does a hashtag bring to a word?

By the way, an overuse of acronyms is another pet peeve of mine.

What does tldr stand for?

Isn't this a complaint someone might have had 5-10 years ago? You're just thinking of this now? lol

Sorry guys, gotta lock this one. There's just no relevance to dynasty leagues whatsoever.

Completely agree, hashtags are useless, they annoy the sh*t out of me. Unfortunately we live in a world full of unoriginal, non-creative lameas*es who just monkey see, monkey do whatever happens to be popular. I really don't see how anyone who is not a 13 year old girl even uses them.

And as annoying as hashtags are the people who think they are being clever as hell by replying to your peeve with a hashtag. The hilarity!

I'm not a social media guy at all, so the hashtag "everything" is annoying to me as well.

I wanted to give a shout out to the OP here as well. I usually never visit the Off Topic thread unless I've been directed to view a specific thread in it, so I tend to forget it's even here. Had I remembered the Off Topic board existed, I would have moved your thread over here to begin with instead of locking it. My apologies.

Social media trends is just like life in a way. My dad used to want to smack me in the head for all the dumb 80's slang to used fling around the house. Now I have a hard time understanding the crap my kid says and the music they like. It is generational......just admit your old and you'll be better off lol.
