Downgrading from Cousins in a superflex

Postby Minnkota » Tue Jul 03, 2018 7:09 pm

So I am thinking of moving Cousins, and I would love some thoughts. Essentially, the deal is:

Give: Cousins, Seimian, Landry
Receive: Rosen, Cooper, ASJ

My other qbs are Luck, Brissett, and Tannehill
The starting requirements are start 1 at all positions with 4 flex and a superflex, and it’s a full ppr across the board.
I lost Hunter Henry and am a bit thin at TE.

Truth be told, I feel like I took qbs too early in the startup a couple of months ago when I went cousins/luck at the 2/3 turn, and am trying to recoup some of the wr value I left I left in the draft.

Thanks everyone.

Are you really gaining much with the addition of Cooper while losing Landry? Also your other quarterbacks have some serious questions marks and adding Rosen would only add to that.

Easy pass. And I'm low on Cousins and Landry and am buying ASJ.

The difference between Landry and Cooper/ASJ is faaaaar less than the QB downgrade. Cousins's value should be far higher than this.

That being said, trading a player now at below market because you regret taking him early is just doubling down on a mistake.

For the record, I actually do feel like Cooper will be an upgrade from Landry this year. I just feel like there are too many mouths to feed in the Brown’s offense. However, I hear what you guys are saying about the qb decline. Would it make any difference if I tried to sub out Alex Smith for Rosen? Or is this still an easy decline. I really do appreciate the help, as I’m get very nervous about moving qbs in this format.

Alex Smith doesn't change anything. Might make it worse.

If you can get Smith instead of Rosen, then I would do it in a second. To me, that makes a HUGE difference.

I wouldn't do the deal as is, and certainly wouldn't do it for Smith. Essentially it breaks down as:
Cousins >>> Rosen or Smith
Landry = Cooper
Seimian < ASJ

I'd want a future first added on to make up for the Cousins downgrade.

WR: Kupp, Hill, Metcalf, Ridley, Jeudy, D.J. M, Burks, Hollywood, Wan'Dale
TE: Kyle Pitts, Goedert

Thanks everyone, I think this gives me a good base for upcoming negotiations. So, in the opinion of others that wave played some superflex in the past, do you think I need to downgrade at qb, and upgrade at the wr spot? Again, this is a full ppr league with a start 1 mandatory across all 4 skill positions. There are 5 flex, with one being a superflex. Here is a clearer picture of my roster:

Luck, cousins, tanny
Freeman, cthompson, riddick, Carson
Hopkins, Landry, Marvin jones, Agholor, Meredith, stills, richardson, Enunwa, John brown
Mcdonald, seals jones

My thought was that I would be starting 4 wrs in my flex spots, due to the full ppr scoring, hence I am light at rb, which I am ok with.

In my opinion Cousins in SFLEX, >>> the entire other side. no way I am adding Landry to the cousins side. He may be on the browns but he is a ppr machine, he is underrated in my opinion

Landry > Cooper

Not seeing any incentive here...

Your needs at at RB and TE more than WR. You don't even have a starter at TE.

I think you're really discounting Landry and Marvin Jones. You have Hopkins, who'll continue to put up top 3 numbers. Landry is a borderline WR1 himself and Jones is a solid WR3. Like Skip said, you need to focus more on RB and TE. Since you only have to start 1 RB, you might be able to get away with that core. But I'd definitely look to upgrade TE and you don't have to downgrade at QB to do that.

Now you're discounting Jones. WR1 in most formats last year. I don't expect a repeat, but surely WR2 is expected.

To the OP. I personally think that the inefficiency of Landry will catch up. He's a good safety valve, but I do not expect the type of targets he got in Miami. Drop his targets from last year based on his efficiency and it's a big difference. He is the most target depending receiver in the league, his efficiency is abysmal. He suits a role on an NFL team well, but he has peaked as a Dynasty asse IMO. If you could drop the other stuff and move him for Cooper or even get Cooper plus I would do it in a heartbeat. In 2 years I don't think Cooper and Landry's value will be even close, but then again, I am way higher on Cooper than most. Landry has never averaged over 8 yards in average depth of target. Let that sink in for upside. His upside in Miami was that they literally had no competent WR anywhere else, and a QB that would rather check it down than to throw to the incompetence out wide..Enter Baker Mayfield in Cleveland with a first round TE, Josh Gordon, Duke Johson etc. Landry's entire ceiling/upside has been nullified. A player that has averaged 10.1 YPC on his career needs a very high volume to produce in FF, and to this date he has. His value IMO, has nowhere to go but down, unless he inexplicably sees 170 targets. You are right to be trying to cash out on him,IMO, and I don't like the overall deal suggested above for you, but I would agree with your statement that you value Cooper over Landry, and focus on that part of the deal.

This was my though going in as well, but his original offer was Cooper for Landry+19 1st. I countered with Landry+19 2nd+Richardson. He then came back with the cousins offer. I had no intention or desire to move cousins, but I perked a bit when he added Rosen, as I see ability and opportunity all wrapped into one with him.

I think I will just try to renegotiate the original negotiations.

In addition, I agree, I do need to get better at te, but I do have Hunter Henry coming back next year. As far as the running back situation goes, this league just ate up rbs in the startup, so I decided to take wrs given the value. FWIW, I love Jones, and snared him in the 7th round. He is easily one of the most underrated players in dynasty.

Thanks everyone.
