First time DYN/SF player - inherited following team w/1.04

Howdy - longtime seasonal player, I've finally taken the plunge and inherited a pretty good young orphan squad.

I'm at 1.04. I have reason to believe that I'm going to be staring at D. Guice, and that it'll go Barkley / Baker / Penny based on team needs and pre-draft intel.

I'm torn, though - because I absolutely love L-Jax and I don't have a 2nd round pick (gave up 2.02 + Eli + C. Carson to get Mariota)

Is going RB worth it, given that I'm probably only the 4th or 5th strongest squad and am better setup for the years to come? I'm tempted to stash LJ, and try and trade for as many injured superstars / picks as I can in an effort to be truly scary next season.

Thanks to both of you guys for the replies so far - good to get some discussion and perspective! Yeah, I guess I was just looking for someone to sell me on Guice... I was shocked to realize he was going to slip to 1.04, and I felt resigned to taking the value.

You're so right, though. I should just go get my guys. For the record on Mixon - I swore off owning Bengals players because watching that team makes me want to poke my eyes out. I'm also high on QB's in Andy Reid's system, and love the weapons around Mahomes. This forum has been an eye-opener as far as how highly you guys value Mixon, though...

I think you are a year or so away from making a big run. I would draft qb at that spot. If Jackson is your guy I grab him there.

2. I would go Guice personally given that it’s only a 10 team league so QBs aren’t as scarce as larger leagues but it’s perfectly reasonable to go with your favorite QB there as well.

That was kind of my feeling re. contention timeline... On the other hand, I just watched a whole lot of Guice footage and interviews (I wanted to see if the "Character Concerns" thing was warranted - very much a "no" imo) and I don't have a second round pick - I'm somewhat tempted to take him if he's there, and then let Jackson fall. Try pry him later in the year for a player, or potentially move up during the draft if he falls far enough.
