1.03 for Trubisky

Postby TrojanDynasty32 » Sat May 19, 2018 11:36 pm

Was offered Trubisky for my 1.03 straight up.

Countered w/ Alex Smith for my future 2019 & 2020 3rd. It is SF, IDP, PPR 12 team league. I know Smith had a career year, but he’s 34 and it was the first time he had passed 3,502 yards and 20 TDs in his career and he lost Kelce, Hill and Hunt. i know I probably started low, although, Smith is at best his 3rd QB, depending on whether Trubisky could pass him, but since he was already asking for a high first for Trubisky, I thought starting low on Smith would maybe lead to a counter at a more realistic price.

I dunno. How far off was I? Is Smith worth a #1 at 34 & w/out his favorite play caller & weapons in SF?

I'd rather have the 1.03. I think the Bears made a huge reach, personally. Really doesn't have a ton of college experience, and although they aren't necessarily alike as people, it reminds me of the Mark Sanchez pick. Not a lot of time as a college starter, and I really have doubts as to his actual abilities as an NFL QB based on that. Once people get some film on him and adjust, he's going to struggle IMO. Once people get some film there needs to be the ability to adapt coming through, and I'm not sure Trubisky will be able to do that. I remember the whole pistol thing, and the only guy that came out of it was Wilson once the NFL studied up on Kaepernick, RG3 and the likes. He was a pocket passer who could move, the others were running QB's. I think Trubisky might be a decent NFL QB, I also think he could be a total bust, but I don't see him as an elite QB as his ceiling. For that reason I'd take the 1.03.

I think Trubisky for 1.03 was a fair offer, even if you're not high on him. A 2019 3rd + 2020 3rd for Smith is a horrible counter.
