Lamar Jackson?

Postby Pete Carroll's Gum » Mon Apr 30, 2018 1:21 pm

Team in sig. 2QB league.

I have the 1.03 and am looking to take a QB. I have 3 starters for the year in Tyrod, Trubisky and Keenum. I should be ok as long as Tyrod doesn't lose his job to Mayfield.

I am interested in Jackson at the 1.03. Do you think that is overpaying? I don't need him to start this year, and Flacco only has 1 more year on his deal. I don't think Baltimore would have traded up to get Jackson to not start him next year.

The 1.02 team only has Wilson, Carr and Kizer on his roster, so I expect him to take a QB. If he takes Mayfield or Rosen, I feel like Jackson is the best pick for me at 1.03...

Thoughts?

I see no issue with taking Jackson at 1.03 in a 2QB league.

My 2QB + SF league drafts have always valued rookie QBs late and by late it's always been the 1.06+ when a QB is taken (Winston at the 1.01 was the only outlier).

However, I fear that this year it will change and that there's a chance all 5 QBs are taken in Round 1, primarily in part that after Barkley is gone...it feels like a total crapshoot of "Who should I take?". Are these RBs truly worth the early first we're selecting them at? Penny, Guice, Chubb, Freeman, Kerryon, RJII? The WRs not being very inspiring doesn't help either.

As of today, if you're not the 1.01, I wouldn't consider taking a QB with 1.02-1.12 a reach because if you wait, they could all be gone.

in a must start 2, with long-term concerns in both Keenum + Tyrod I'd value safer prospects over LJ's upside. I would take Rosen + probably Darnold too

I like Jackson but I would try to move back a few picks and pick up something. I think you should still get him 1.05 to 1.07 range

Barkley
Mayfield
Darnold
Rosen
Guice
Allen

at worst will be top 5 in most superflex... just matters if someone loves Jackson enough to take him ahead of that.

Can you move up one spot and just snag Mayfield? Then you'll have Tyrod's replacement all set up.

If not, I think Lamar is fine there.

He won't go before 5. Probably more like 7. Keep in mind he's gonna sit the year more than likely. Most ppl won't use a top 5 pick on that.

This was the first 2QB league for most of my league mates and no one invested in the QB position enough when drafting. A few teams don't even have 2 QBs and a few teams have like 3-4 top end starters. So I think that there is a good chance our draft is very heavy on QBs in the first round. I don't want to miss out!

If the 1.02 goes Baker then I think I have to go Jackson based on his potential. I can also see Jackson going 1.02. He doesn't need a RB. He also has the 1.04.

Again, I don't really need my 1.03 QB to play this year as I have 3 starters.
