Approaching the draft in a rebuild

Postby Blueboy » Tue Apr 10, 2018 12:14 pm

I've got a rebuilding Superflex team that owns 1.01, 2.02, 2.03, and 2.06 (not the team in sig). I was hoping to sell the 1.01 for a mountain of gold like I've seen it go for, but the best offer I've gotten is AJG plus a 2019 2nd which I didn't find appetizing. This team only has Trubisky at QB, so I really want to grab a rookie QB.

Since selling the 1.01 isn't happening, one hope is to move up into the mid 1st and grab a QB. I think the first four picks will be RB, making my target window in the 1.05-1.09 area. I've got no clue how to value moving up on the board -- I offered the 2.02 and 2.03 for the 1.09, and was told I'd need to add a future 2nd to make it happen.

Is it worth tossing away three seconds (next years' will likely be very early) to grab what might be the last of the rookie QBs?

12-team SF, PPR, TE premium, 0.25 PPCarry
1QB 2RB 2WR 1TE 1SF 4Flex
QB: Mahomes, Fields, Love
RB: Bijan, ETN, Pollard, Achane, Herbert
WR: Kupp, Hill, Metcalf, Ridley, Jeudy, D.J. M, Burks, Hollywood, Wan'Dale
TE: Kyle Pitts, Goedert

IMO, absolutely not. Clearly, the Jets (who traded away three 2nds to move up from 1.6 to 1.3) must love 3 QBs. No way that I'd be doing that to get whatever QB is left. I would MUCH rather run the risk of having to pay a little more to buy a pick when it's on the clock knowing that I absolutely want the guy that I'm getting than overpay for a pick where I might not love the guys that are left.

I think you'll be able to get a QB or two with your 2nds.

I dont see it, even in a 10 team league... these QBs will fly off the board until 2.02 IMO

Can you maybe sell Trubisky + and get 2 late 1st this year?

With a rebuild team hold all your future picks. Adding a future 2nd to your offer is laughable IMO. Stay put with your 2nd round picks. At least one of the QBs should fall to you. Wait till S.Barkley get drafted to a NFL team and try to sell the 1.01 again.
