QB Rankings

Postby Jigga94 » Fri Nov 02, 2018 9:41 am

Just did some QB ranks. Wanted to throw them up for fun. The older guys are hard to value at times because it depends on stage of team but here they are

Mahomes, Luck, Watson, Wentz, Baker

Russel, Cam, ARod, Goff

Jimmy G, Ryan, Cousins, Stafford

Lamar, Allen, Darnold, Trubisky

Rivers, Brees, Ben

Mariota, Winston, Dak, Carr, Rosen

Dalton, Tannehill, Flacco, Foles, Teddy, Brady

Bortles, Tyrod, Eli, Keenum

This about what everyone else thinks? Anyone you are higher / lower on?

I think Jimmy and Trubisky should swap slots, other than that I like it. I think everything SF is (and has) been overrated for well over a year now. Jimmy hasn't done much to make me believe he is the next Brady or Rodgers as some suggest (stat line backs up my thinking here too).
12 TEAM SUPERFLEX, TE Premium, 25 man rosters
QB - | Rodgers | Herbert | Mills
RB - CMC | Chubb | Dobbins | Keaontay Ingram
WR - McLaurin | Deebo | Waddle | Gabriel Davis | Elijah Moore | Mooney | C Ridley | Jameson Williams | Pickens | Alec Pierce | Wan'dale Robinson | Justyn Ross | B Edwards
TE - M Andrews | Friermuth

2023 Picks: 1st round(2), 2nd round(2), 3rd round (2)

Elite, guys I'd consider around Gurley/Hopkins in a startup:
Mahomes, Wentz, ARod

QB1s, gone by the mid-second of a startup:
Luck, Cam, Russel, Watson, Goff

High end, but not elite:
Cousins, Ryan, Stafford

Guys I'm high on, but still need to see more from:
Baker, Jimmy G, Darnold, Rosen, Trubisky

Deserve high value, but uncertain situations for either future or present:
Brees, Rivers, Brady, Lamar Jackson, Ben

Maybe they can turn it around with a change of situation:
Allen, Winston, Dak

QB3 types:
Smith, Dalton, Flacco,

I've seen enough to be convinced they're bottom-5 guys:
Mariota, Bortles, Carr, Tannehill, Eli

Forgot to say Mohammed Sanu. He's my #1 QB when he eventually switches positions.

Mullens should easily be top-10.

Trubisky that high is insane. Sure he’s producing fantasy points right now but he looks pretty bad. He’s very similar to Bortles and I’d expect him to have a similar career trajectory at this point

Team 2 - 16 team, PPR, SF

For me, I'd rather have him than anyone in tiers below him for dynasty. He has not been amazing this year (in real football terms, been very solid for fantasy), but he has flashed, and with some consistency in the offensive coaching combined with the weapons they have around him, I am expecting him to develop and become a much better player. He is still very raw and inexperienced, in terms of games played dating back to college, so ranking him that high is definitely heavy on projection on my part, I will admit, but I obviously believe in him.

And who are you taking over him at this point?

If you're going to list off all the older QBs, I probably won't argue with you because Ben, Rivers, etc have all been QB1s for it feels like decades now but while he has had flashes of inconsistency, he's showing out to be one of the better young QBs.

Assuming this is a startup, I would take the following over Trubisky (in no order):

1. Mahomes
2. ARod
3. Watson
4. Wentz
5. Goff
6. Wilson
7. Cam
8. Luck
9. Cousins
10. Stafford
11. Matt Ryan
12. Jimmy G

Those 12 seem obvious but I would also take the following over him as well:
13. Mariota
14. Baker
15. Rosen
16. Darnold
17. Dalton is close

Trubisky has an amazing supporting cast and thats in his favor but he reminds me of Bortles circa 2015.
Team 1 - 12 team PPR
QB: MRyan, MJones, CNewton, RFitz
RB: SBarkley, DSwift, CAkers, JMixon, AJDillon, LMurray, DarWilliams, GBernard

Have no problem with the top 12 you have over him and Baker. What makes Rosen and Darnold over him though? I have him in the same tier as each other but you seem to be pretty convinced here.

Better question is, what does Mariota have on you?

Darnold and Rosen were both significantly better QB prospects in my opinion and haven’t hurt their stocks this year playing on awful offenses. Mariota started to look better after his bye so I’m willing to bet that the early season struggles were more of a function of his elbow than anything else.

Its totally reasonable to bet on the current production Trubisky is putting up over all those other guys. Just when I actually watch him play I don’t see a good QB and those things tend to even out over time.

3 guys I think that need to move down as a community
ARod - ok, maybe it was the knee that slowed him down this year but the injuries are piling up, can we really expect him to be at full health the rest of his career? He turns 35 in 2 weeks, sneaky rushing upside is down, average at best supporting cast, has career high volume and still only QB9. I don't think he should be in anyone's tier 1 anymore.

Russ - pretty similar to above. He turns 30 in 2 weeks, rushing is way down, career high TD pace but unsustainable as volume is way down and still only QB14. Division is on the up. Again, he shouldn't be in any tier 1 and probably at the bottom of tier 2.

Stafford - I was probably higher to start but have dropped him 4-5 spots until they replace Tate.

I can agree with those. I doubt in a startup that I'd take Arod before Luck. Still think hes a better option than my tier 2 guys though. He can be in the beginning of that tier.

Russ is already in tier 2 for me. The love for him on here is a bit crazy, but he does have the stats to support it. Needs to bounce back or his value will stay on the decline

Stafford is good and not too old so hes still in that tier 3 for me of young guys that have potential and decent QB who aren't too old. Lions will always give him volume and he will find a new target. KJ and Riddick will get an uptick for the rest of this year
