Think this kid is NFL material?

This photo has not been doctored any way.

Okay, I will admit that Devine is standing next to WR Wes Lyons, who is 6'8". But still!

If he can put on 30 pounds and run a 4.38, he should be fine :)

Devine

Postby dlf_jeffh » Tue Apr 21, 2009 3:40 pm

If he's listed at 5'8" on the college roster, I bet he's just short of 5'6". Backs that are below 5'9" and have any great level of impact are few and far between. If they are going to be below 5'9", they better bring huge thighs and a weight north of 205-210 with them.

From: Risers and Sliders: 2010 NFL Draft
Risers

Noel Devine/RB/West Virginia: Devine is proving to be one of the more versatile and creative backs in the nation. He shows the uncanny ability to elude defenders and pick up yardage when seemingly none is available. Devine is also a terrific receiver out of the backfield and has the makings of a return specialist. The junior already has high grades from NFL scouts should he decide to enter April's draft.

This assumption is based on what? because 5-8 is what he is listed as everywhere.

I am sure his assumption is based on reality. Teams have a tendency of listing players at generous heights to help their cause. For example, my boy Hakeem Nicks was listed as 6'2 if I remember right and he measure in at less than 6'1. It happens often.

Crabtree was listed at 6'3" and measured closer to 6'1", too.

'Texas Tech fudged Crabtree's height' Michael Crabtree was supposed to be 6 feet 3 after all. That's what Texas Tech listed him at. He measured 6-1.

Noel Devine-RB- Mountaineers Jan. 3 - 11:00 am et

West Virginia junior running back Noel Devine said he was "not sure yet" with regards to the NFL Draft. Following the Gator Bowl loss to Florida State the speedster went on to say, "If I was an NFL scout I would be able to tell you that."
It appears likely that Devine will decide to leave Morgantown and give the draft a shot, however he has until January 15 to make his final decision.
