1.02+? for 1.01

Postby Swampdonkey17 » Thu Dec 11, 2014 10:29 pm

Value in picks only for arguments sake, what would it take? Mid 1st? Late 1st? 2016 early first? Combo?

I would say a third round pick should be enough. This year, there is no clear cut number 1 so I don't think you should pay that high of a price.

A 3rd imo is way too little. Right now I'd say an early 2nd but once we find landing spots, pro-days then the price could very well go up.

I'd prefer Gurley but would be perfectly content settling for Gordon at 1.02 so the most I'd be willing to give up is a late second/early 3rd. I'm sure you can find some Gordon fanatics that will play through the nose to lock him up at 1.01 though so anyone holding the 1.01 and willing to move back should absolutely not make it known who thier first choice is.

I wouldn't give up more than a late 2nd just to move up one spot unless there was a generational player to take at 1.1

Ditto. I'd even go so far as to say a 3rd. If you're looking at Gordon/Gurley at 1/2, there's not enough of a difference to make me want to pay anything substantial to get my preference.

No chance I'm giving up anything more than a 3rd to move up 1 spot in a draft with no consensus #1.

Some answers I really disagree with right now.

The first tier looks 2-3 deep right now, maybe even bigger if you love a guy like Parker.

But you can't predict what's going to happen---at the combine, in the draft, etc.

It's worth paying any 2nd to ensure you get your pick of the best prospects. There could very well be a clear 1-player first tier by the time rookie drafts roll around. Or maybe there won't be. But it's worth risking a 2nd to ensure you get your guy, unless you're in a deep rebuild. Even then I'd consider it.
