1.02; Mike Evans?

Postby jdomer2403 » Thu Apr 03, 2014 10:14 am

I have the 1.02 in the upcoming draft. Is mike evans a lock at the 1.02? I have my questions about him but evans is an unbelievable prospect w/ huge upside but also has the potential to be a big bust due to a dez Bryant attitude and lack of a route tree. Is he the consensus at 1.02? Sell me on evans or tell me why he shouldn't be the 1.02.

Have never heard anything about an attitude, in fact everything I've seen of him is the exact opposite, but he doesn't need work on his route tree which is pretty common for rookie WR. If he's there for you at 1.02 (I've seen many having him over Watkins lately) I think it's a slam dunk pick.

Is he a top 10 guy in the NFL or more of a top 25 guy provided he reaches his potential.

If he reaches his potential? With his size and speed, he could be a top 5 WR no problem. His ceiling is higher than Sammy's, but his floor is also lower.

I have a 1.2 & I'm pretty sure I will be taking him if Watkins goes 1.1. Great size & speed but I like the fact that he goes & gets the ball ( catches w his hands & not body ), has performed vs top competition & can be used to extend the field or dominate in red zone.

I prefer Lee at 1.2. Not sold on Evans. I think with manziel extending the plays it helped his production. Ive never seen tape where a corner challenges him at the line. I could be wrong but I think sammy and lee will be solid NFL players and I would only take Evans at 1.3 because I would kick myself if I was wrong about him.

Corners didn't challenge him at the line because they couldn't. He rag dolled them, there's worry that because he's so physical that he's going to be called for it in the NFL. When your average corner is 6'0, 200 lbs (and smaller in college) there's not much they can do to stop a 6'5, 230 lbs dude.

This description made me lol. But I would not let concerns of getting flagged a few times stop me from a true playmaker - he can fix that part of his game to be physical and still stay within the rules (see Brandon Marshall).

"On Saturday, the LSU freshman CB Robinson mastered the lessons aptly, limiting Biletnikoff Award finalist Mike Evans to three catches for 13 yards in their matchups (with Evans finishing with four catches for 51 yards)"

This is my second year in dynasty and really my first offseason where I'm paying attention. I'm just not sure how anyone can pin down who they will take at what pick prior to the NFL draft. I got to believe that will have a huge influence on who goes where. Who was the consensus 1.01, 1.02, ect last year at this time? How much did that change after the draft? OTA's? Preseason? I have 1.02 this year as well and am leaning toward Evans right now pre-draft, but I also am taking who to take at what spot with a grain of salt until I get closer to my August draft. Maybe the OP has an April or May draft. If so, yes I would take Evans 1.02 with very little regret. 6' 5", 4.4 40 speed, huge wingspan, played under the big lights, young, mismatch nightmare, those are a few reasons why he is my 1.02 at this time. I may be singing a different tune in August.
