Jordan Matthews: Forum Darling

Postby Loss Prevention » Mon Mar 24, 2014 12:50 pm

Kid receives lots of love here in the forums. Yet, he is seldomly ranked very high by any analysts or mocked in the first round. Who is right about this kid?

It's not just here. He's been in dynasty rookie WR top-5's for months, and the combine didn't hurt him. His draft pedigree is going to say a lot.

I have been thinking the same thing on Matthews recently a lot of sites like DLF are real high on Matthews but that's
it I have 1.2, and 1.3 in this years rookie draft and I'm thinking of taking him along with Evens but it makes me nervous
when you hear nothing about him.

This article helps explain quite a bit. Obviuosly it's only one source...If he is not drafted in the first round, how can ANYONE justify taking this kid before many of the other receiving talents? Separation seems to be the main knock on him. Also, he doesn't do well in man coverage and gets easily rerouted. I have two early picks and was considering Matthews but I am thinking there are better options available.

I find it odd that he has all these awful flaws yet somehow put up ridiculous numbers in the SEC with shoddy QB play. Regardless of where he goes in the draft, he'll be my 1.03.

For me, he seems like the safest pick as far as production goes. He has an extremely high work ethic and he has enough talent that the work that he puts will likely, in my opinion, make him a star. He has the measurables (tall, big hands), the production (most recption yards in SEC history), and work ethic. That stands out to me quite a bit.

One knock that I have on him is that he is a senior. These other guys have made just as much if a name for themselves on 2 to 3 years as he did in 4.

But yet, no love anywhere. Why is that? Is there anyone high on this kid outside of this thread? If so can you post a link.

Is there anyone who can now post a link to ANY scout or analyst talking this kid up as an excellent prospect (possibly first round receiver)? My point is, are we missing something? Or are they? Have we suddenly become better at judging talent than the guys who get paid to do this sort of thing?

Not one Matthews supporter has answered this question the entire thread. This is silly. I know nothing about Matthews yet but I'm starting to resent him based solely on this dichotomy.
