A nice blurb:
• UCLA senior RB Johnathan Franklin leads the nation in rushing with two consecutive efforts of 200-plus yards (15-222-3 vs. Rice and 26-218-0 vs. Nebraska). He showed elite vision against the Cornhuskers in the open field, when he turned what should have been a two-yard loss into a 31-yard gain, making hard cut after cut without losing any steam to avoid five would-be tacklers. He is dangerous catching the ball out of the backfield, and though he lacks bell-cow size at an estimated 5-10, 205 pounds, he plays much bigger. Similar to Boise State’s Doug Martin, who elevated his draft standing with a solid senior season, Franklin has starter-type NFL traits and has jumped out of the gate much faster than any other back, including Wisconsin’s Montee Ball

I think this guy has a chance to be the 3rd back taken and someone I will specifically target in dynasty drafts

What I wrote about him on twitter: Johnathan Franklin-impressive vision/speed/agility/cutback moves/balance with decent hands-needs to work on his power/pass blocking

wrote recently? from what I've been hearing from the Senior Bowl is that he surprised a lot of people w/ how well he pass blocked. most thought originally he would have problems but showed differently in practices.

Yeah, but an argument can be made that being able to pass block in practice is much different from pass blocking in a game situation.

My observation was from the game film I watched. It is difficult to evaluate running backs in practice, but half of the battle is effort. Franklin showed that. I have him as my #3 rookie RB for fantasy right now.

Man oh man is his game tape against Nebraska impressive. I will be digging a little deeper for my precombine rankings, but I would say Franklin is looking like he'll be in my top 5. I think he will run VERY well at the combine. Here is a nice little scouting report on him:

Jacksonville Jaguars - 32 team - Real GM - Yr 12

I've put him past Gio. Ellington has also impressed me. Top 5 probably goes Lacy, Ellington, Franklin, Ball, Benard. I believe Ball, Ellington, and Franklin will be interchangeable.

Apparently, Franklin broke the most broken tackles (4) against "Blue chip players". Lacy came in second with (3). Both had broke around 20 tackles this year.

I really like this kid. I'm impressed with his vision and ability to follow his blockers consistently. Plus his pass catching has improved in his senior year. He is my #3 RB right now but with an impressive showing at the combine he could land as my #2. If he adds a little weight and gets drafted into a great situation he could be my #1. Crazy talk, I know.

He is my #3 RB as well and I have gotten serious heat on twitter about it.

Well Andy, I'm glad you go by what you think, not what others believe you should think.

That's surprising. I think there is a lot to like about Franklin. Who does the majority see as the consensus #3 RB? Honestly, I hope he stays undervalued. Then I can get him on the cheap. But I'll take him at 1.05 if everything falls right for him.
