Pre-Draft Rookie Big Board

Postby HawkeyeState » Tue Apr 04, 2017 7:15 pm

Hey all, just wanted to finalize my pre-draft rookie big board (offense).
Subject to change from the draft, I think someone earlier posted there's board a month ago or so, but wanted to get mine out there for you all to debate!
Here's my top 30

1 Leonard Fournette (I worry about him, but his bust % IMO is pretty low)
2 Corey Davis (probably the safest player in the draft)
3 Joe Mixon (would be my #1 player if he didn't have off the field)
4 Mike Williams (so much like Dez, but that comes with some dud games too)
5 Christian McCaffrey (could be the #1 overall RB or a complete bust, landing spot/usage is HUGE)
6 Dalvin Cook (the sky is falling with metrics and off field, but he's a good player on film)
7 Evan Engram (matchup nightmare, loses some value if he gets WR designation)
8 Juju Smith-Schuster (not popular, but he's a ridiculously young breakout player, the type of prospect you bet to "hit" IMO)
9 John Ross (you can't coach his speed, similar to Cooks in a lot of ways, injuries concerning)
10 Alvin Kamara (why wasn't he the #1 RB in Tenn?)
11 D'Onta Foreman (quietly blew up his pro day and is a big RB who can handle 15-22 carries pretty easily)
12 OJ Howard (high floor player as a likely top 15 NFL draft player, but if he's so good, why didn't Alabama use him more?)
13 Chris Godwin (dare I say he's similar to Allen Robinson as a prospect)
14 David Njoku (I honestly expected him to be faster than he was, but still crazy athletic, I feel like he's a really high ceiling and really low floor player)
15 Zay Jones (has checked a lot of the important boxes through this process)
16 Carlos Henderson (If I recall, he didn't fare so well in Matt Harmon's reception perception, but a good player who once had NFL round 1 buzz)
17 Bucky Hodges (raw, but the dude is huge and athletic, this TE class is insane)
18 KD Cannon (Baylor WRs are so hard to scout, but what you see is some good things on tape)
19 Jeremy McNichols (could rise big time from the draft, another bellcow type RB at the next level)
20 Kareem Hunt (athleticism is a question mark, reminds me of Kenneth Dixon who I still think can be an early down runner)
21 Adam Shaheen (you don't find 270 pound TEs that can run like him often)
22 Curtis Samuel (biggest question is usage/fit, could be Tavon Austin (blah) or Percy Harvin (love!))
23 Ishmael Zamora (off field questions, but a good player on tape)
24 Malachi Dupre (man, how the mighty have fallen)
25 James Conner (receiving prowess isn't there, awesome story, could be a bellcow or just a short yardage thumper, team is everything)
26 Jake Butt (he's worth taking and waiting a year for him to recover)
27 Cooper Kupp (not a plus athlete, but the production and savvy play is what makes him a nice player to take)
28 Marlon Mack (under the radar RB that could be real good IMO)
29 Isaiah Ford (productive, questionable athlete)
30 George Kittle (not a popular player to rank this highly, but go look at his combine and tape, he can be a productive player IMO and he will get on the field immediately with his ferocious run blocking. He's basically an offensive lineman playing TE with his technique and FINISH in the run game, just needs to develop more as a receiver/route runner. The athletic portion is there IMO)

honorable mention:
Deshaun Watson
Mitch Trubisky
Patrick Mahomes
Deshone Kizer
Brian Hill
Jamaal Williams
Elijah Hood
Brian Hill
Kenny Golladay
Amara Darboh

Interesting that you don't have Perine on there. I am lower on him than current ADP's seem to say, but with some of the underwhelming testing by the lower tier RB's and most of the WR's he is solidly in my top 30 especially because he seems to have such a well defined role (with the thought that it leads to a clear path to playing time and the potential to showcase himself).

That said, I agree with a number of your thoughts and even if I would order things a little different (along with including guys like Reynolds, Fred Ross, and barely Gallman in my top 30-40), it is obviously well thought out and constructed. Thanks for the insight!

Good catch, definitely an oops!
I'd slot Perine actually at about 15! Thought he was in there on my list, guess that's what I get for having this list on 1 screen and then posting it to this forum on another and not just copy-pasting!
