Official Christian McCaffrey thread

Postby Steelersfan » Tue May 31, 2016 8:14 pm

Let's get some "official" threads going on here! "Official" meaning a long running thread dedicated to the player listed in the title...

Anyways, I love McCaffrey's talent and I think it fits well with today's NFL.

What are your thoughts on McCaffrey?

I think he ran behind a dominant oline littered with 4 year starters. This will be the make or break year for Mcaffreys NFL prospects IMO.

Love the official thread concept. I've always found it a better way to organize thoughts and makes threads more useful for future reference.

As far as McCaffrey I think he is being over-sold at this stage. I don't think he's elite in any physical area, but the total package might add up...I don't see any knockout factors, yet. My main thing this time of year is to keep an open mind going forward.

I'd like to see more power. If he can incorporate that without sacrificing agility I would be more comfortable with his projection to the NFL.

I'm glad you like it, we do something similar at DH. Feel free to post some of you own here, I'd love to chime in!

The comparison is not even close to accurate. Reggie was a talented player on an Uber talented team, but they gave him specific duties that exemplified his specific skills set. Bush did nearly no goal line work, didn't Carry 20 plus times, and pass protected little. McAffrey does it all.

Love the guy, as well. Agree with DynoScout with regards to ideally seeing him add a bit more power. I'd love to see him stay healthy all season, ball out, and show up at the combine in Indy at 215ish (he's listed at 200-205) while still running in the low 4.4 range.

Otherwise, he's absolutely the truth!

I see him as a COP back. If you think he'll be able to handle 20 plus carries a game in the NFL then I'll let you draft him while I'll take someone else

Danny Woodhead is a COP back and finished top 5 in most ppr formats. Standard scoring sinks his value, but rbs don't need 20 touches to be fantasy relevant anymore.

Very true, plus if someone wants to use Woodhead as a comp I think we should add "souped up" before Woodheads name. :D

Exactly. No one said he wouldn't be successful. Reggie Bush got hurt too much. Maybe McCaffrey can stay healthy and put up good numbers.

Bush was seen as one of the best RB prospects around at the time. McCaffrey is good, but I dont think he is quite as explosive as Bush was

Spent some more time really studying McCaffrey and I came away feeling better about his projection. Power might not ever be his calling card, but what he does well is valuable in today's NFL and in fantasy football.

I'd still take Jalen Hurd over him right now, but that's a minority opinion I imagine.
