Chubb or Fournette?

Postby Diti51 » Sat Mar 12, 2016 10:17 am

So for devy for 2016, which would you rather have and why?

I personally like Chubb more, despite the injury and risk of recovery. Feel his ability to make guys miss in space, catch the ball, and vision are better than Fournette. Fournette is no slouch, but feel as though he doesn't have the same vision as Chubb which makes him great as a downhill runner with clearly defined holes, but may struggle at NFL level. Curious on everyone else's thoughts?

Cubb - assuming health. I don't think Fournette is going to be anywhere near as good as people are expecting. Good college back that doesn't look so great against very good competition. Henry-ish.

Fournette is a faster Demarci murray. Amazing north south runner with limited lateral agility. IMO McCaffrey is underrated, I like his blend of speed, agility, vision, intelligence and receiving. May not be the best at anyone thing but is top 10% in everything. I like McCaffrey since that is the knock against him. With Chubbs, 2 major injuries to the legs frightens me

Fournette, because his knee has yet to be shredded. If Chubb returns to form then we'll talk about this again though...

If and I know it is a big if Chubb had not been injured I think he would have been the back all of us would be talking about as the 1.1 in next year'so drafts. Chubb as stated above does offer a more complete skill set that lends itself to him being a 3 down back. As an owner of Chubb in a college player league, I hope he can regain his pre injury form.

A player that should be in this discussion is Dalvin Cook. I won him everywhere. I know that dev pundies will point to his lack of elite size/height and his one game suspension (which seems part for the course with elite skill position prospects these days) I look at the number of 20 plus yard runs and long touchdowns he had playing against quality ACCM defenses. The passing game was by no means dominant either.

In a vacuum, I feel like Chubb is a better bet. He's been elite when healthy while I've seen teams scheme to shutdown Fournette and be very successful. Maybe playing in an NFL offense where he's surrounded by more talent and the offense isn't as centered around him would prevent that at the next level though. However, if Chubb can put together a healthy season this year, then he's my #1 choice.
