I came away really surprised after watching him go against Colorado and Norte Dame. Ran very nice routes and got open. Not explosive but has decent top end speed and uses every play to set CBs up on stop and go routes. Works the come-back as well as anyone in this year’s class. His height and weight don’t match up with his skill set. You would think he is a big play, down field threat. Not the case at all. He works the outside like Welker used to work the middle. Catch after catch after catch.
Very difficult to see a guy this tall, and not think that he needs to bulk up. If he does, with his strong hands, route running ability and excellent sense of where he is on the field at all times, he may actually turn out to be the best WR in this year’s class. 111 catches this year says it all.
FYI to all you IDP guys, Jaylon Smith is one of the best LBs I have ever seen on film. In that UMASS game, he was not human.
