I thought that was a given. Otherwise, 5th year players could be given a "bonus" to lower their effective salary to be less than it was for years 1-4.
It sortof is... and that's how I've handled it so far. I just want it to be explicitly written in the rules.

Related to the above:

Passing yardage scored at 20/point instead of 25 (or higher)/point is the biggest scoring issue with QBs. In decades of fantasy football, I don't think I've ever seen that in another league, and passing yardage now is a hell of a lot "easier" to compile than ever before.

Last year:

4000+ yards passing: 13 QBs (Brees had over 5k, and Ryan and Cousins were within striking distance)
3000+ yards passing: 25 QBs
Only two teams came up short of 3000+: Rams and 49ers.

That's a huge shift, even from 2006...

4000+ yard passing: 5 QBs (Brees was the highest that year too, with 4418...almost 800 yards less than last year)
3000+ yards passing: 14 QB
Ten teams came up short of 3000+.

The top 10 last year, averaged more than Brees lead the league with in '06.

Absolutely no one is suggesting QBs shouldn't be the highest scoring position, but QB scoring is out of wack.
I'm thinking 4 pts for td's should stay the same. Maybe make INT's -3 points and 1 pt for every 25 yards passing?
I'm open to whatever. ANYTHING to curb QB scoring would be a step in the right direction. I wouldn't even mind if we made small changes over the course of a few seasons, so there's nothing too drastic all at once.

The top end guys are still gonna be the top end guys... but QB #18 outscoring WR #1 is BS.

I wouldn't be opposed to "extending" the draft beyond round 3, even if just with "optional picks" with far more contract restrictions, but adding "comp picks" seems like far too much burden for their benefit.
That was my problem with comp picks. I mean in theory, its not a bad idea. Managing it has always been my problem. If someone has ideas, I'm all ears.

I'm not gonna bother arguing every micro decision this year. Fixing QB scoring would be nice: -3 for INTs and 1pt/25yd seems simple and effective - maybe even 1/30 since a 300-yard passing game is akin to a 100-yard rushing game these days.

300 yards + 3 TDs = 22 points
100 yards rec/rush + 2 TDS = 22 points

Pretty nice balance if you ask me, and it's still harder to do the latter. Having negatives for INTs counters that perfectly. Scoring like this would really reflect which players actually EARN points on Sunday.

I would be ok with that qb change with -3 and 1pt per 25 yards

I’m not in any leagues without kickers and defenses, we say we want to be super realistic yet want to get rid of them. I will vote no, but if I get outvoted I’m not going to cry about the change

Defense scoring is fluky. If I lose, I want it to be because my players sucked.... not cuz some defense happened to be playing Nathan Peterman that day.

I'm in favor of 1/25+ passing yards. Adamantly opposed to -3 INTs though. -2 turnovers is consistent and far too many INTs aren't really the QBs fault.

Agreed, -3 seems excessive.

Meh, there are plenty of interceptions thrown that aren't caught too, so....

But whatever... like I said, anything is a step in the right direction and I'm willing to do it slowly over a couple year.

I don't think we touched on playoff seeding/format.

I think the easiest solution is just dropping the conferences. The 4 division winners qualify, then the 2 highest scoring teams of the remaining non qualifiers. 2 teams with the best record get byes.

Id even go as far as letting the #1 seed choose his opponent in the semis, but im willing to be bet that doesn't fly here.
