2017 League Year
The league year will open at 12:01AM on Tuesday, June 20th. Prior to this deadline, you should have only dropped players who have expired contracts (zero years).
When the new league year opens, you may begin dropping any players who are still under contract...you will, of course, absorb the requisite cap hit.
• Franchise/transition tags and contract renegotiations - If you're franchising or renegotiating anyone, those threads must be created by 8:00pm EST June 22nd
• Rookie Draft - Tentatively set to begin at 8am eastern on June 25th...if all FT / TT / Renegotiations are complete, we can begin early
• UFA - Starts at 12:01AM on July 20th (assuming the draft is over)
• Regular Season - Starts 8:00pm EST September 1st
Please refresh yourself on the rules regarding renegotiations, franchise/transition tags, and free agent bidding.

Can you please unlock trading?
Re: 2017 League Year
FYI...any renegotiations, franchise / transition tag threads that were posted early will not "expire" until at least 12:01am on Thursday because that is 48 hours after the official start of the league year.

Re: 2017 League Year
I'm a little rusty after 6 months off. The ('old') guaranteed money on a renegotiated contract is pro-rated as new bonus money or on the actual contract?
Example: 10k salary, 10k bonus, 3 years. Renegs to 1k salary. Given 3 years with no bonus. New = 1k + 10k x 3, or 4.3k x 3?

Yes...you are always on the hook for guaranteed moneyMultiple Scorgasms wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2017 10:21 pm I'm a little rusty after 6 months off. The ('old') guaranteed money on a renegotiated contract is pro-rated as new bonus money or on the actual contract?
I don't think your math is right. You have to add up all the guaranteed money and then divide by the length of the new contract. If you don't give a bonus, there would be no "new" bonus money, so I'm not sure where the new 1k comes from...Example: 10k salary, 10k bonus, 3 years. Renegs to 1k salary. Given 3 years with no bonus. New = 1k + 10k x 3, or 4.3k x 3?
So a 10k bonus x 3 years is 30k...if you give the guy a straight contract for 3 years, then the bonus would still be 10k per year.

Re: 2017 League Year
Yes, made a mistake on that, but your last few words are confirming what I was asking. The bonus money is spread over a new BONUS, not the ACTUAL salary (which impacts our cap). Thanks!
Re: 2017 League Year
Yes...think of the bonus as guaranteed money. Using your example, regardless of his new contract, you still owe that player $30,000 in guarantees and you can't get out of it. If his renegotiated contract is a straight (non-bonus) 1-year deal, the "bonus" would be 30k...for 2 years, it would be 15k...for 3 years, it would be 10k, etc.Multiple Scorgasms wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2017 7:38 pm Yes, made a mistake on that, but your last few words are confirming what I was asking. If his new contract is a "bonus" contract, then any bonus from his new contract is added to any bonus from his OLD contract.
Either way, again using your example, his salary (the number that counts against your cap) would be $1,000.
Additionally, if you let a renegotiated player walk, you eat all that guaranteed money.

Re: 2017 League Year
With draft done this early, move FA up to next week?
Re: 2017 League Year
There are teams with ineligible players on IR, masking the fact they have illegal rosters...
Re: 2017 League Year
I just activated a couple players who were illegally on IR, but everyone else looks to be okay...mostly suspended / retired players. And I dont see any illegal rosters.
Am I missing something?
Re: 2017 League Year
You're right. I must have miscounted. Allowing retired players to be stashed on IR is something we should eliminate, but keep forgetting it's there. That's a far worse loophole than the PS ever was.
