In need of some sneaky IDP - DL

Postby boobam13 » Sun Jun 12, 2011 7:48 pm

I currently have Mario Williams, Jaball Sheard and Charles Johnson...

I am looking for someone to roster incase CBS changes Mario's status to LB instead of DL, does anyone know of any sneaky play guys that will help out my squad?

pretty open ended question.
Can we have an idea of who's available or we might just be naming guys that are owned?
Did you read the IDP sleeper thread for ideas?

I did read them and I guess in our league I am looking at DL guys who might be playing OLB that might be getting a few more tackles....

Scoring is 2 points a tackle, 2 more for a sack (ie a sack is worth 4 pts)
Passes defended are 2 points, fumbles recovered and forced at 3 points each , INT are 3 aswell...

Last year Tuck set the pace with 186 points then Jared Allen came in 2nd with 159...so there is a huge gap in talent

Tuck is projected to have 163, Mario Williams(and I do know the eligibilty issues you have with him Mr. Rourke) but he is supposed to get 107...I never trusted projections anyway but giving up 56 pointsover the course of the season is too many for a team like mine - I need everything I can get...Thanks for your time, effort and of course names!

Are you on ESPN? That is the site that can be abused with starting positions. However, to do that you need a team switching from 4-3 to 3-4 and you already have M.Williams, which is the guy who would be playing LB and possibly scored as a DE.

The other two scheme changes Cleveland and Denver are going to a 4-3. So they might have a player that is labled LB and playing DE, but that is the wrong way to be successful.

If Mathias Kiwanuka resigns with NY, he will move around from both ends and Will the whole game. Lots of ifs with kiwi though. He is still listed on MFL as DE, which is great if he resigns with NY, and the base 4-3

I think so.....
Sheard has quietly been one of the better pass rushers in college football the past three seasons. He's displayed constant improvement on the field and should be productive for Cleveland in their new 4-3 base defense. He will challenge for a starting DE job and could win it early on, possibly by opening day.

I took a gamble on Cliff Avril in my recent rookie/FA draft. He showed flashes last year, and going into this year, a lot of attention will be going towards stoping Suh and Fairley. I think he could put up some good stats in 2011 and beyond.

He's worth a roster spot. Should get some decent playing time.

FYI - Mario Williams is now listed as an lb on mfl. So draft accordingly.

CBS still has him as a DL and in the little profile they have about him has this to say:

There is a chance Williams will post his third career 50-total-tackle season and also his third career double-digit sack campaign. The sky is the limit for Williams, who has been decent over his last two seasons but really lacked in tackles in 2010 when he finished the season on injured reserve (hernia). Considering the factors, check out Williams with a mid-round pick as a starting Fantasy DL. (Updated 5/2/11)

So it seems that accourding to CBS he will be playing DL - I am hoping he stays this way

I'm not sure. it sometimes takes rookie DL's a few years to make an impact. Outside of Suh (who is a DT) and Dunlop (the second half of the season, not a lot of DL's were very productive. I may be missing someone else, but overall, it;s not a very productive position for rookies.

Personally, i like to change my DL's a lot during the season, unless i have some elite DL's on my team. Some guys emerge throughout the season, whether it by injury or by their own play. The elite ones are hard to find or acquire. The rest are so close in value. IMO If Carlos Dunlop Cinci is available... I like him.
